New Hampshire: Permitless Carry Scheduled for Senate Consideration Today

House Bill 536, important permitless carry legislation, is scheduled for consideration by the state Senate today.

Introduced by state Representative J.R. Hoell (R-13), this Right-to-Carry legislation would repeal the existing law that requires a person to have a concealed firearm license in order to carry concealed. However, HB 536 would not eliminate the current carry permitting system, which will still be required for those who wish to 1) participate in reciprocal concealed carry permit agreements when traveling to other states, 2) be protected in "gun-free school zones" and 3) be exempt from NICS when purchasing a firearm.

In New Hampshire, existing law allows any citizen who can legally own/possess a firearm to carry it openly, either loaded or unloaded, anywhere in the state.  Since law-abiding citizens are allowed to carry a firearm openly without a permit, they should not become criminals just because they put on a jacket or place their firearm in their purse or briefcase.  Law-abiding citizens do not suddenly turn into violent criminals just because they conceal their firearm.  Additionally, HB 536 clarifies existing law concerning the sale of pistols and revolvers.

Please call AND e-mail your state Senator IMMEDIATELY and respectfully urge him or her to SUPPORT HB 536.

Will The Gov. sign it?

A businessman and Democratic Party politician, Lynch was elected the 80th Governor of New Hampshire on November 2, 2004, defeating Republican incumbent Craig Benson by a narrow margin

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

It doesn't matter if he veto's it again, there are enough Republicans to overturn his veto.

UPDATE
Again from NRA,
Today, the New Hampshire Senate considered House Bill 536, important permitless carry legislation.  The Senate voted 19 to 5 to accept the Senate Judiciary Committee amendment.  Subsequently, by a 17 to 7 vote, the Senate voted to table HB 536.  Senate action must be taken within the next two weeks on HB 536, as the Senate must act all House bills by Thursday, May 17!

NH State Motto: "Live Free or Die!"

I love that phrase. If that doesn't capture the true essence of what American is about, I don't know what it could be.

Then you would really agree with Gen. John Stark's full quote.
In a toast to a gathering of his Revolutionary war veterans he said, "Live free or die,  for there are things far worse than death".

+1 Thanks for the complete quote....

"If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
Samuel Adams
