Dems continue trying to silence Fox News
« on: May 04, 2012, 07:59:54 PM »
Dems continue to search for any method to gain total control over media outlets by searching desperately for some way to silence Fox News, the only media out let that does not join the Obama propaganda front.
Now they are spending our money on a futile search for any connection between Fox News and the British "Hacking scandal" that has spread from the tabloid "News of the World" to tarnish Murdoch's whole "SkyNews" network.

Senator likely to be rebuffed in News Corp inquiry

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The British judicial inquiry investigating questionable reporting practices by Rupert Murdoch's media properties is unlikely to cooperate with a prominent senator's request for evidence of misconduct in the United States, three people familiar with the inquiry said.

The sources said that the judicial inquiry, created by British Prime Minister David Cameron and chaired by Sir Brian Leveson, a senior English judge, is not authorized to provide legal assistance or evidence to other bodies or organizations, including foreign government agencies or components. Nor is the inquiry investigating matters outside Britain.

Jay Rockefeller, chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, on Wednesday sent a letter to Leveson asking if his inquiry has uncovered any misconduct on the part of Murdoch's News Corp that occurred in the United States or violated American laws.

Murdoch and his global media empire have been embroiled in a "phone hacking" and bribery scandal since last summer when evidence emerged that Murdoch's now-shuttered News of the World tabloid hacked into voicemails of a missing British schoolgirl.

U.S. critics of Murdoch have been trying to instigate official investigations into whether similar questionable practices were pursued by Murdoch journalists in the United States, but so far U.S. probes have been limited.

Murdoch's properties in the United States include Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Post.

Rockefeller's request came after a British parliamentary committee issued a report on Monday that found Murdoch "not a fit person" to run a major international company, asserting that he was ultimately responsible for illegal phone hacking. [ID:nL5E8G1B3E] News Corp denounced the report's analysis as "unjustified and highly partisan."

I have to say that I, too, silenced FoxNews yesterday.  My son and I were at a local eatery and ordered a burger.  Then the liar occupying the White House, err, POTUS came on the tube with his rally to be re-elected.  We turned the TV off so as not to ruin our fine meal.

Waitress came back 5 minutes later and turned it on, that's when I firmly explained to her why I shut it off and that I was walking out if the Communist/Socialist Anarchist...dang, POTUS, was still on the screen.  She turned it off and it stayed off until after we left.

Thread drift....anyone here have similar story?

That's what I'm talking about.

Anyone else here putting their foot down and speaking out?  We're not sheep of a different "flavor" out there, are we?  Not to hijack the thread too much, of course.

The history of the News of the World
The leader of Australia's Green party has called on the government to investigate Rupert Murdoch's extensive media holdings in Australia.

Party leader Bob Brown, a senator, urged the inquiry following fresh revelations in the UK over the News of the World phone-hacking scandal.

The Murdoch-owned paper is accused of hacking into the phones of crime victims, celebrities and politicians.

Mr Brown said the potential for similar activity in Australia should be probed.

'Prudent'
Prime Minister Julia Gillard relies on the Greens to keep her minority Labor government in power.

Speaking in the Senate on Thursday, Bob Brown called on Communications Minister Stephen Conroy ''to investigate the direct or indirect ramifications to Australia of the criminal matters affecting the United Kingdom operations of News International''.

News International runs Mr Murdoch's UK newspapers, including the News of the World, The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times.

On Thursday, News International shut down the News of the World following a spate of fresh revelations.

Speaking later to Reuters news agency, Mr Brown said: "We have the most Murdoch media ownership of any country in the world with eight of the 12 metropolitan dailies owned by the Murdoch empire.

"I think that it's just prudent to take a raincheck at this stage, because the events unfolding in London are so serious, and it would be irresponsible for us not to look at the potential for similar operations to have occurred in Australia," he said.

Rupert Murdoch was born in Australia and founded his international media empire there.

His interests include The Australian, The Daily Telegraph and a 30% stake in Sky News Australia.

Sky is bidding to run a government-funded international TV service currently operated by ABC.

Earlier this week, the government extended the deadline for the contract to be awarded.
