Right behind the ear, instead of the leg, would have solved several societal concerns....IMHO, FWIW.

Is it still a crime to shoot some one if they ask you to ?
It was not intended to be fatal so it's not attempted murder.
There was no malice involved, in fact, doing a favor is usually considered an act of good will so assault would not really apply.
No attempt at insurance fraud..

Uttering the words "What could possibly go wrong" is never a good idea in the adventure sports arena. However, here are a few phrases I hear quite often:
