Here in Ky. it takes about 30 days to receive your training certificate and another 30-45 days to receive your permit depending on how many applicants the state police have to go through. The price is right though only 60 bucks for a five year permit.

In NH the law stipulates no more than 14 days.
I had to wait 18 for my original here in Laconia because the lady who handles the paperwork had the Flu ( it was February ).
Renewal was 10 days.

Minnesota has a max turn around.  If they do not reply within that time your application receipt becomes your permit to carry until the actual permit or the denial comes through.  My permit took three days (both original and renewal), and one of those was the post office.  Basically, the Sheriff signed it the same day I dropped it off.

20+ years ago, my first license was around 4 weeks.
My last renewal took 6 days.

Can't remember exactly about how long the first one took - maybe a 3 wks from start of class to permit in hand - but the last renewal was about 2 wks via the mail.
No more fingerprint cards for renewal. AZ DPS found out that fingerprints don't really change a bunch. Who knew!!??  ::)

Didn't really matter, CCW is no big deal here even w/o a permit.   (thank you Republican majority)

AL does vary by Sheriff. Mine here, original and renewal, (1 year per) were 20 minutes and less than ten, respectively..

I think the last time I renewed in Michigan it took about three months which is longer than it should have taken.  I think the law says 45 days from when the finger prints, application, background check is done.  Your receipt is your permit if it takes longer.  My county was swamped with applications as was much of MI and the county gun board was only meeting once a month then with only X number of appointment slots available, so I got pushed back a month.  I think they started meeting twice a month since then.  When I did get in they approved us in groups instead of individually.  In my county, after I got approved they still made me wait a week, because they make you pick it up at a different building and they take that time complete the actual permit and shuffle it to the other building.  There is still problems with some of the county fiefdoms in MI making up some of their own little rules.

Years ago before Michigan was a shall issue state I had a restricted CCW.  My renewal one time took more than six months and I was printed 3 times.  The local PD at that time would do the prints and send them to the FBI in DC.  The FBI would then OK the prints and send the OK back to local PD that then forwarded the info to the county.  I kept going back to the PD and they hadn't heard back from FBI.  FBI said they didn't have prints so printed again.  Same thing.  Went to local PD again and they called FBI and spoke to a friendly agent who said they still had no record of my prints.  The friendly agent said the problem was Clinton welfare to work hirees that trashed incoming prints instead of processing them.  Agent had local PD send prints to his attention and he faxed the OK back to them to finally speed up and move the process along.  At around the same time another applicant that was an amputee kept getting rejected because of incomplete prints even though fingerprint card was marked as amputee.  Same agent told local PD just to print the same hand for left and right hand and it finally went through and was approved.

I took the course almost as soon as it became law here in KY.  Back then it took about 6 weeks to get it, but they where new at it and just getting everything set up.  The class has even went from two days to one.

When I got my Washington State permit state law said 30 days or less, no class required I got mine in 3 weeks IIRC.  Oregon is 4-6 weeks after meeting the training requirements.

Our program in ND is run by the state, but processed through the County Sheriff. So no-go on the same day stuff for me. But, it took a while for me to get my act together once I had the test results/application, but once everything was in hand, the Sheriff's staff were cool, even did my prints for the Utah app, and it wasn't much more than 2 weeks for the state to get everything done and the card back to me.

I suppose it varies by county and sheriff as to how quick you get it here.  Mine took about 2-3 weeks for my MN permit.  My Utah permit took considerably longer, between 2 and 3 months.
