When I was in Germany I had a 3 liter mug and one of my roommates had a 5 liter mug he referred to as his shot glass. You drink one of those and you're shot.   ;)  We could get a whole case of beer into 2 steins. I broke mine one day when my hand quit working.  :'(

My buddy years ago spent several months visiting relatives in Latvia and Lithuania and spent a good bit of time in Germany!  He brought me back a porcelain plaque that read in German;

"In heaven there is no beer, that's why we drink it here!"

I have that buried somewhere in the archives of my yoot!

Was in Germany too.. Loved most German bier

My favorite was local to were I was stationed.  It was Bender Bier, out of Arnstien.  At the time they produced Pilsner, Lager and Merzen.

I like the Merzen...it was a blend of Pilsner and Lager...I was told....around 9%.

Didn't have a mug, but did tend to keep track of how many I had.   My record was on a Saturday when we started at Noon and were back on base by midnight.   My personal best was 32 half liter bottles of the wonderful stuff.

Doesn't look like they have the same line-up today though.

That would be 16 liters and a liter is a swallow more than a quart, so yes..it would be a bit over 4 gallons...

It was serious work, but we kept at it.  Figure 11 hours on the job, that is only 1 half liter every 20 minutes....an easy pace....we had to eat a few times, they that doesn't slow things down.

No way those bottle skins would work in my neck of the woods........ somebody would get all liquored up and start shootin' at the bottle because it "moved like it was fixin' to run up a tree."

They would't work in my house, because my dog would attack it and probably wind up drunk.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

At $765 a bottle "drunk" would be the least of his problems.
Shot would be an option .   ;D
