We were shooting through a course of fire at a USPSA competition today when I found out the turtle targets (look like a stop sign) are used by IPSC because in some countries (Canada was mentioned) you can't shoot a human shaped target  ::) ??? :o

I feel sorry for these people in other countries to a point but at the same time they have a problem they need to deal with (had an discussion at school over illegals and I made the same point).

Most countries controlled by a Monarch have strict gun laws.  Australia and Canada still answer to the British throne...eventually, butter knives will be outlawed in England!

Citizens are "free", they are responsible for themselves and their own safety and therefore need weaponry.
Subjects are the property of the govt which assumes responsibility for their defense.
They, therefore have no right to employ "force" or to posses weapons.

You don't have to go to other countries for that.  IIRC, there's a state or two where it's illegal to shoot at human shaped targets, even if they're only silhouettes.  I think I remembered hearing that Massachusetts was one of them.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

Yes, there's a law banning "human" paper targets in MA somewhere but I can't find it.  IDPA targets are "human" silhouettes and we shoot them all the time.  I suspect it's one of those laws that exists but isn't enforced.  The half dozen ranges I've used around here are pretty laid back, self regulated and very responsible.  I've never seen any Deputy Dogs checking up on us....

Found it...General Law 140.131 excerpt   "Such club shall not permit shooting at targets that depict human figures, human effigies, human silhouettes or any human images thereof, except by public safety personnel performing in line with their official duties."

So you can shoot at real humans then?

What about freedom of speech?  If the libtards can burn a flag I should be able to shoot a target of them burning a flag... ;D

It happens quite frequently.  We've had a dozen self defense shootings in the last few years.  Some you hear about, some you don't!  Most news programs focus on the gangbanger shootings in and around Boston, Worcester and Springfield and the "evil" guns that are doing all the shootings.  They sentence the gun to death and let the perpetrators sire a few more bastard children!

It's been a number of years ago now but I remember, (I think under Romney, maybe earlier) that the national Guard wasn't allowed to train with dummy grenades. The story said they were using pine cones..
