Pecos, I have just tested the forum using the same version on my iMac. Could not replicate it. Since you have to refresh the page to show log in success, it sounds to me your Firefox goes to a cached page on your Mac instead of the current online page.

I tested it on my iMac running 10.7.4 and FF 13 no issues ( and same for Safari FirefoxAurora )
also may have tested with 10 8 DP4.. "allegedly" with Safari version 6..
