Like minded people...Good to know there are some.
« on: June 11, 2012, 09:29:17 PM »
Took the wife to the local Wally world tonight to get groceries.  I bent down to get some stuff from under the basket.  When I stood up I could feel that I was exposed.  My cocealed I meen.  Before I could correct the T-shirt I herd a "psst"  when I looked up a guy was pointing at my IWB and my 1911.  I quickly flipped down my shirt and the guy just winked at me and patted his right side hip and said I'm with you bro.  That was the end of that.  I've seen this guy around town.  Next time I run in to him I'll see if he wants to go to the range so I'll know another like minded person in my area.  Just thought it was cool.
Give me liberty or I'll get my guns and get it myself.

Can you still open carry in Louisiana?  It was up through about 2006 when a man was arrested at the Tanger Mall in Gonzales.  The police chief or sheriff made a statement they didn't care what the law was, no one was going to walk around with an open gun on their watch.  That smart ass comment about not caring what the law was ended up costing them a whole lot of $$$$'s.

I'm just saying that since here in Oklahoma an unsavory DA can charge you with a felony if your gun is printed or inadvertantly shown.  It hasn't happened yet, but an open carry law was passed to prevent it from happening.

Yes we have open carry here.  I checked and if someone complains you just have the hassle of the cops coming and dealing with all of that.  If some one does call the cops its not a firearms charge.  You may gut a disterbing the peace charge.  Most of the local cops here are hard to judge on there stance on it.  We have so many small towns within our parish that you may deal with the police dept. or the Sheriffs dept.  I mainly conceal to avoid the hassle and to have the suprise advantage on the bad guy.

Funny how some people want it both ways.

"not concealed" is defined in GA as if any recognizable part of the gun is visible from AT LEAST 3 direction, 90 degrees apart.

Which means if it can only be seen from 2 directions, even if it's "in plain sight" it is still considered "concealed".

Will work for ammo

Yep. But at least GA is getting better at redefining some laws and the wording thereof.

I had a Probate Judge explain to me years ago that you can open-carry in Ga, but only with a concealed carry permit.   ;D

SAY WHAAT ??? ???

The way Ga CCW laws were worded were somewhat ambiguous, to say the least. In the last few years (2010's SB308), our Legislature has gone a long way toward straightening out some things and more accurately defining the language...as well as opening up more "freedoms" to carry by defining "public gatherings" and such.

What I meant with the Judge's statement, was that the way the laws were originally written, it didn't state expressly in Ga law that you could open-carry, but it did say that you were guilty of a misdemeanor of carrying in an open manner unless you had a valid CCW permit. Basically the law means is that you could carry either way (open or concealed) only if you had a valid permit. You could openly carry during hunting season if in a valid hunting area without a license.

*EDIT*
*Note: This was the Probate Judge from when I got my first CCW license over 20 years ago. She said I was allowed by law, with the license, to carry any way..... but after dealing with another judge in another county, when her nephew was harassed by deputies while open carrying on his bike, she recommended carrying concealed to avoid dealing with "idiots who were ignorant of the laws they were paid to enforce."

**Of interest to some, this is info from Georgia Carry about the racist roots of Ga's carry law history and why we had laws to begin with.
