Story is one of heroism, and at the moment Mother & Daughter were last alive together, Mom did good.

She never let go....

VENUS, Fla. (CBS Tampa/AP) — A 3-year-old girl was found alive in her dead mother’s arms after the two were thrown hundreds of feet from their Venus home during a tornado spawned by Tropical Storm Debby.

Heather Town, 32, died Sunday when her Highlands County home was lifted off its foundation and she and her daughter, Anne Marie, were thrown 200 feet into nearby woods, according to multiple reports. The mother was found clutching the child, who survived.

“I am so proud of my daughter,” Elmer Town, Heather’s father, told WGRZ-TV. “I can picture her holding that little girl of hers. She died for her.” Town added that his granddaughter suffered a broken pelvis and broken ribs.

The two were covered in debris and barbed wire when found.

“When they found her, she was literally holding her baby, her little girl,” neighbor Kim Bass told WTVT-TV. “They took the little child from her because she was having a hard time breathing and she had barbed wire on her and was in a very dense section of woods, about 50 feet back there.”

Heather Town died at the scene. Anne Marie is currently in stable condition at Tampa General Hospital.

A Mother's love and grip even in death will not be broken.....

God Bless Heather Town, a true human shield....

I had read that earlier today and thought of posting it in the  "You can't make this up thread".  A story like this one shines so brightly it casts the other stories in that thread in an even deeper shadow of despicable loathing.

In reading this, I had the thought....  I would not be surprised if the mother clung to life and her daughter, protecting her as long as she could and when they were found and she knew her baby was safe, she let go and passed.

No human could do batter.

Thank you Solus, my sentiments exactly,...The human will, the protective instinct of Family. There was another story on the Weather Channel documenting tornadoes in OK last year. A newlywed couple found themselves in the same situation, and the husband threw his wife in the bathtub, and covered her with his body, and was beaten and impaled by debris. She survived and he died on top of her.

The "survival" instinct is inherent in all of us.. The sacrifice those make to ensure the survival of our loved ones is nothing but admirable and heroic.

For those with children, there is nothing a parent won't do to ensure the safety of their children,...including the ultimate sacrifice of giving one's life for them.

We joke about it, but it is  all, everything, for the children.   They are our future.

We have to know, however, we face more serious threats to our, and their, future than the physical ones.

The indoctrination of the Young Ones  to become willing "slaves" to the government, to abhor independence and self reliance, and to grow content with the apathy inducers of the "Bread and Circuses" of Welfare and Dancing With The Stars and other "entertainment" that becomes the purpose and the motivating force in their lives.

Keep your children free from those and you are heroes as great as this mom.  The risk is not death, but the work is hard and goes on for life.
