Sweet pick ups cmrothenb. If I haven't already, Welcome to DRTV. Glad your here. Seems many have joined the ol' military rifle love as the 1903's and M1 Carbines are gone from the CMP. :-\

But do have a "Big Brother, Little Brother" The carbine is not mine, but a good friend and co-worker/shooter, so they come out often. It's a Saginaw and a lot of fun to shoot with the larger mags.

If we hopefully replace this damn POTUS, I'd love to see "ONE" of the 700,000+ Korean carbines make it's way to me... ::)\

BAC, the CMP e-store sells real Garand bayonets for about $68, and you can choose Onieda, AFH (American Fork & Hoe), and other period correct bayo's with scabbard. Seems the shows I frequent want $100 and up....

Most are the 10" but some WWII era from United Cutlery were 16". I opted for a 1950's AFH in 10. To stay period correct.

Libertytreecollectors.com sells period correct cleaning kits and Garand tool that all fits nice and tidy in the buttstock, for around $30-48 bucks.

I too have (now) 3 Moisin's, and 2 Mausers, 1 1891 Argentine Engineers Carbine in 7.65 x 54. and 1 full length rifle version as well.

Along with my 1916 DWM Luger with all matching numbers.

Still a babydoll to shoot with Remington 115gr. 9mm.

Should have grabbed a k98 when they were cheaper, I am also on the K31 Swiss want..... or a Swedish Mauser in 6.5mm

So many great guns, so little money.... ;)

Good shooting cm, and BAC, take care.

The original 16 inch Garand bayonets are darned scarce, and many are in crap condition, but there is a reason.
Before the war the Germans had switched to a 10" bayonet for the Mauser, so all the Garand's that went to Europe got  10" bayonets which saved weight and kept the rifle "handier".
The Japanese however, being blade nuts, retained the 16 " bayonet , so the Garands sent to the Pacific generally got full length bayonets, (the Garand used the same bayonet as the 03, the early 10" blades were cut down from these)
Due to the higher humidity and salt exposure a far smaller number of these survived.

All real men shoot Garands ...
Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, 60 rounds powder and ball and be ready to march at a minute's warning.

I checked CMP's website to see if my club is an affiliate, I figured it was but wanted to make sure, and we are!  So BAC which grade did you get?  I am just looking for a shooter that I can ring the gong at 200 yards with at our club and maybe shoot some Bullseye, after some tinkering for accuracy.

I've wanted one for a while and getting ready to finish my Bachelor's Degree it would be a good gift to myself.

the Field Grade & Service Grades are still available for $525 to $695 (they've gone up),  :-\ and using your CMP club affiliation number on the application, you'll get a discount. I think its 5 to 15% through your club.

Field grades are totally shootable but more well worn. Headspace and throating is acceptable and will have more mixed parts on it.
Service Grades are worth it. Stock is not as beat up, more numbers match, and tolerances are a higher grade.

Here's the link to the sales page, Print the app. make color copies of your DL, CCW permit, Birth Certificate, and mail it to them, they will ship it to your door, a signature is required. They say 30-60 days, it took my order about 2 1/2-3 wks last summer.

Wish I could get another one,.....(sigh).... ::)

Get one quick.

I bought a service grade rifle with a new stock.  The muzzle reading was 1+ and throat was 2+.  I went there to get a special grade with new barrel, but this one spoke to me (and saved me a couple hundred bucks).  If you live anywhere near one of the CMP stores, I'd highly recommend picking one out yourself.  Worth it!

Can't wait to get out to the range again.

The closest one to Oregon looks to be in Ohio... :-[ I will just have to order one the old fashioned way.
