As I have said before, I don't know a single person that has not commited a felony at some point in thier life. Most don't even know.   should a violant felon get thier rigths back?  No.  Should some one that was convicted of one of the hundreds of "infraction" felonys get thier rights restore?  You bet.

This is a tough question for me.   Maybe we need a "Philosophy" Section so I can get help solving problems like this.

I have one view that if someone "does his time" his record is clean and his rights are restored.

On the other hand there are Bad Guys back on the street that, by no means, should be trusted.

I think the solution is something like:   If we can't trust them to posses firearms, we can't trust them to be walking around  in public.

I don't know how to make that work fairly, but that is the problem as I see it.

As far as I know, the US and the USSR are the only countries where people who have served the sentence are subjected to deprivation of rights.
Denial of gun rights was added by FDR.

Let me make it perfectly clear why I posted this, why I named it this, and why certain talking heads are ranting:

This isn't about convicted felons!

This is about reelecting Pres. BHO!

They are freely admitting that BLACKS make up the majority of those that do not have their full rights fully restored after their convictions.  This group of bleeding hearts is screaming because it is BLACKS!

Now pay attention to the full story, and follow other written and recorded versions of this same issue, and you will find that they are screaming because it is Pres. BHO's support base that has issues with living within the law not having their full rights restored in time for this November.

If Blacks would quit committing crimes far out of proportion to their numbers they would not have that problem.
I've belabored this point before, here in NH all minorities comprise 3% of the population yet blacks alone account for more than 50% of the violent crime, and more than 50% of major drug crime.
Based on behavior blacks do not deserve "full representation".
If they did deserve it they would avoid committing the felonies that they are being punished for.
