As bad as it is, it's also a good situation to learn from.  What would you do if you were in that Walmart  (By yourself, with your family)?

HHMMM! Food for thought for sure.  I carry a 1911 with an eight round mag, plus one in the pipe.  I carry a ten round super mag in my pocket.  Thats not enough!  May have to switch to the XDm and two extra mags.  But then that many 230 gr. rounds will pull my pants down.  AHA! saggen pants the perfect camo for this.  I'm brilliant!!!
Give me liberty or I'll get my guns and get it myself.

It really depends on where I am in relation to the mob when it begins.

1.  Get as far away from the mob as possible.
     a.  If at ground zero when it begins, do whatever it takes to get away/out.
     b.  Leave store if it doesn't require pushing counter to the mob (i.e., go out the other exit if possible).
There's too much risk going into the mob for any reason, in my opinion.
     c.  If unable to confidently leave store, move to other corner of store.
2.  Avoid confrontation
    a.  Don't appear to be an easy victim.
    b.  Don't appear to be a threat.
    c.  Give them no obvious reason to come after you.
3.  Find a corner with good sight lines that's easily defendable.  A corner limits exits, but also limits entrances.
4.  Limit who is allowed in your secured space (Not immediately threatening).
     a.  Obviously or questionably with the mob, they don't come near.
     b.  Obviously not with the mob, case by case situation depending on their needs, attitude, and ability to aid in defense.
5.  Deal with obvious threats accordingly.
6.  Make a quick exit when a safe opportunity arises.
7.  Hope 10+1 with a spare 15 rounds of 9mm is enough.

For the record, I'm single with no kids.  I think my plan would be applicable with a family though.  I hope that my future wife would be armed as well and could aid in defense.

Leave through the garden center, there is nothing there to attract the varmints and you are most likely to have a clear path.
Ever hear some low life say "Ise gonna go steal some new kicks, baggies , and a shrub for my Mom." ?

This is a chaos system. Your suggestion is logical but pointless - 300 people intent on trashing a place do not care what they trash. They will look for an easy door.

The only likely unobstructed exits are the ones in the back behind the swinging doors. That's where I would head.

Out the back sounds good to me. Our WM has five alternate exits... one in produce, one in the dairy area, one in the "In Store Pickup" location, one in Automotive, and the Garden Center.  No matter where you are in the store, there should be a way out nearby.

The WalMart I go to has plenty of ammo in the sporting goods section.  During a threat, I think a hasty purchase at the sporting goods counter would be in order.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

Before I ask the obvious question I would like to see a timeline of events that night.

What is the obvious question?

What bit of elite police procedure says that when you break up a large out of control party you don't care or pay attention to what the party goers do or where they go?  This large a group moves down the road from point A to point B, and there is no report of law enforcement with them  ???  In an urban area large enough to have a Walmart and following a legal action to disperse a party where a shooting took place, and they do not have every law enforcement in the region available to deal with this migration  ???

The back security door that says "Alarm Will Sound If Opened".....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

It seemed like the doors were pretty plugged up. I was thinking to take whoever happened to be with me and head for the Deli or Dairy Case Refrigerators.. Find a corner with a choke point in front of it and wait it out.
With friends like these, who needs hallucinations!..
