Liberal Senator Frank Lautenberg promised to reintroduce gun control legislation in the wake of Friday’s Aurora theater shooting.

Last year following the Giffords’ shooting in Arizona Lautenberg introduced anti-gun legislation. He later talked with CNN about the importance of taking high-capacity gun magazines off the market.

Mediaite reported:

Despite all of the calls not to politicize the Colorado shootings last night, gun control advocates have been demanding that politicians use it as an opportunity to take action on national gun laws. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence said earlier that they “don’t want sympathy” from President Obama and Mitt Romney, they “want action.” It is with all of this in mind that New Jersey senator Frank Lautenberg is planning on reintroducing gun control legislation on the Senate floor to limit high-capacity magazines.

According to The Huffington Post, Lautenberg brought similar legislation to the floor following last year’s shooting in Arizona involving former congresswoman Gabby Giffords. At the time, Lautenberg said that “the only reason to have 33 bullets loaded in a handgun is to kill a lot of people very quickly” and pledged that he would introduce legislation to ban high-capacity ammunition clips.

Lautenburg’s office sent this statement to the Post earlier today:

“If reports are correct and a high-capacity gun magazine was used to commit these awful murders, Senator Lautenberg will absolutely renew his effort to limit the availability of this dangerous firearm attachment.”

I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Why only if the high capacity magazines were used?  This is the type of leadership we are suffering under today.  Either it is the right thing to do or it isn't.  It is not conditional on what happened in the latest hot button event.

Our law makers should be looking at the big picture and legislating as if manipulating sails on a ship.  Their work should keep us on a general course, and not be intended to control as if threading a needle.  Their actions should be based on the needs of the people over generations and centuries.  They should not be incident or person specific knee jerk actions.

Here are a couple of points that should ban any legislation from being introduced:

1.  Named for a specific person affected by an action or condition;
2.  Tied to any current event;
3.  Provides special protection for or punishment for a given class of person or action.

I see what you did there, you used logic and reason.

To quote rahmiekins, "Never let a crisis go to waste".

It ain't about reason, it is about control. Period.

We absolutely MUST ban these deadly high capacity assualt trucks, they are turning our roads into a slaughter house.
We have to get these killers off our roads, it's for the children.

Authorities: 10 dead after truck crashes in Texas

GOLIAD, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a pickup truck has crashed in South Texas, killing 10 people in the vehicle and injuring 12.

Louann Presas, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the crash occurred about 7 p.m. CDT Sunday near Berclair when the truck ran off the highway and crashed into some trees. The unincorporated community is about 100 miles southeast of San Antonio.

Presas says all the victims were in the same Ford F-250 pickup.

She says the extent of the injuries to the surviving victims wasn't immediately clear. Crash investigators were still at the scene around 11 p.m. CDT.

A Goliad County sheriff's dispatcher deferred comment to a department spokesperson, who did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.

That wouldn't advance the communist agenda though.   >:(

I wish I had the clip of the Lout when that stray Cessna got about TWO MILES from the Capital and him crying with trembling voice about to jump under his committee desk. I'd like to follow that one with the one of him threatening and yelling like some Sonofabitch old man who thinks he matters, at a nurse from UAB because she wouldn't participate in abortion procedures..
I'd projectile vomit in his face if I ever had to look at those nasty old hairs curling out of his nose.. Sorry bastard.. Invertebrate with a superiority complex..  I'd clean bed pans for a week just to have more shit to dump on the grave of somebody he "loved", (yeah, right)..

Then I have to wonder how Christie gets elected when some of the same insects who voted for Lautenberg had to have voted for him.. That's all the reason I need to NOT want Christie near the WH..

WOW Santahog! And you're not even from NJ!  :o

I'd like to see Lautenberg dry up and disintegrate like the mummy he is. I'd like to see Christie get VP so we could get rid of him, but then he'd Yabba Dabba Doo the whole country instead of just NJ, so in a public spirit, I hope he DOESN'T get VP, to spare the rest of you.

He's special.. One of those deserving of the "Sonofabitch" moniker. I have to hold back lest I draw the ire of his protectors.. It's hard not to "get started", thinking about... that..

I posted this as a comment on MB's blog this AM concerning BO's speech.

Obama said " I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers and not in the hands of crooks. They belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities,”

If that is the case then he needs to explain why he and attorney general Holder placed those very guns in the hands of cartel members and on the streets of Mexican cities.
Their actions in operation "Fast and Furious" makes Watergate look like joke.
Contributing to the death of a US Border Patrol agent, and over 300 Mexican citizens, in Mexico should put Obama, not on the ballot for President, but on trial before the world court for crimes against humanity, just like Slobodan Milosevic.
