I am sick of people calling Social Security and Medicare an entitlement! That is a plan that is paid for by most of the users. I know we are not supposed to count on it for our entire retirement, but with the amount of cash they have taken out of my pocket I have a lot of money they have stolen ... but what do we expect from Washington D.C.?
Due to an employer that stole two and a half years of my Social Security deposits I get quarterly reports showing money sent to the administration (not withheld and due, but actually sent) since my very first job.
Take the amount sent to the Feds in my name, deduct 25% off the top for administration fees and those that draw without paying, apply 5% APR interest with 25% removed as above, work this through my most recent statement and extend last years amount with no inflation for the next 12 years (expected working years), and I will have an account value of just shy of $1,000,000. This means that there is $50,000 to go toward my SS and Medicare annually without touching principle, and the government gets my principle written off their national debt balance at my death.
I agree that our finances are a mess, but quit calling SS and Medicare an entitlement. It is bought and paid for, and in the best terms it is lent to the government, and in reality it is stolen assets from workers that was taken in a trust fund raid. Maybe those wanting banks destroyed should look at what we have done to ourselves with government credit cards.
