To many liberals should be hung, we don't want to cause an artificial bubble in the rope market.

True Tom.  An advantage to the shift would be that China is geared for disposable razors, so your new tool of choice would demand domestic craftsmanship  ;D

If'n I take a Chinese made spoon and grind it on the front stoop into a shiv, is it still American made?

"Assembled in the US from foreign and domestic parts."

Not quite 100% American made, but close enough to get the job done right.

" 100% American made Harley Davidsons" are made from Swedish, or Japanese steel, same for every single other "Buy American" product on the market.
America has not had a steel industry worth mentioning in 30+ years.
So yes your Chinese made spoon becomes an American made shiv.

My understanding is the cheaper mag/aluminum wheels are all made in China on a Harley as well!  Most of the bling you buy at a Harley store is made in China!

That, and a price of about 50% of a HD was why I bought a Triumph...When I went on a ride, people were more interested in my British made POS than the run-o-the mill HD...

Honda, or Kawasaki. Harley's are overpriced and European bikes are all over engineered unreliable crap.
Suzuki's are supposed to be OK but I've heard they are badly underpowered compared to the other 2.

Yea but for the 6500 I paid for my Triumph, all Yamaha had was an anemic, soft suspension V-Twin 650!

At 6'1" and 240, I made that little Jap bike look like a toy!  My Triumph was the same size as a HD Dyna Glide and a lot lighter.  I'd buy another Triumph if I was in the market again.  Just need to strip off all the crap the Brits have to bolt on for US pollution standards.
