In your opinion!

Yea but for the 6500 I paid for my Triumph, all Yamaha had was an anemic, soft suspension V-Twin 650!

At 6'1" and 240, I made that little Jap bike look like a toy!  My Triumph was the same size as a HD Dyna Glide and a lot lighter.  I'd buy another Triumph if I was in the market again.  Just need to strip off all the crap the Brits have to bolt on for US pollution standards.

Not my opinion, Honda Shadow and Kawi Vulcan look just like Harleys, are the same size, and require less maintenance for about 2/3 the price

Tom,

I owned the top of the line Vulcan, the Nomad, and I have ridden Road Kings - There is no comparison!  HD all the way!  I have ridden a Goldwing for two years now, I have ridden a Polaris, and the Ultra Classic - the only three touring bikes there are.  It is a horse a peace on these.  Each has its little benefits, but you can't go wrong with any of them.  And when it comes to cost there is no comparison either - Toss up!

Most people that blast the top dollar bikes aren't comparing apples to apples.

+1.....

When it comes to price vs performance, the Japanese bikes win.....yes, I would have liked an HD, but money was a big concern. When I bought my Shadow Sabre in 2002, it was 1/2 the price of the closest thing HD had in physical size (Fatboy) and the HD was used. The only real difference was the size of the engine.... I gave up a couple hundred CC's for $8000....... and I could ride two-up with my 1100 engine fine. My Honda was built from Japanese parts, but the plant is in Marysville, OH. All Honda V-Twins are built in the US.....or at least they were in 2002.

My '06 Goldwing was built in Ohio, but in '10 they moved back to Japan.  Can't speak to the other lines.
