I remember that.

As I remember it, that part of the highway is directly below the city hall complex of Fall River.  It's a 1/4 mile long tunnel through the center of the city just south of the Braga where the USS Massachusetts is docked!

Fitting and ironic that it was directly below the asses of the boneheads in charge!

This thing still ticks me off.   ok so yes, I had people teach me stuff, but I learned alot of it in the school of hard knocks.    Now to the pay it forward deal, I don't know a small biz owner that is not more then willing to help up a start up or some one that wants to start up.  Even if they are in direct compotion.   we are always more then happy to offer advice or help you jump thru the hoops.  ( assuming we have the time and you are not a dick)  just don't expect us to open our wallets and dump start up money in your lap.   
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

I've seen the same thing, mechanics, construction, hardware stores, you name it, "I can't help you with that, but Joe Smith may be able to"
Around here the roads BO is taking credit for were cut by the people moving into new areas, that includes the highways that up here at least were laid along the general course of existing roads.
All those "Scenic covered bridges" were built by the people who wanted to be able to cross the stream dry.
Concord Bridge was built by the citizens of Concord Mass.
Govt. didn't have crap to do with it.

Tom don't forget about the golden gate.   the bond was thousands of homes put up by the owners.   that would never happen now.

The mentality of the population has changed from "We've got to", to "The Govt. has to".
And then they complain about Govt intrusion in their lives.
They invited it.

You guys might remember my 1911 micarta grips thread.  It was a pure moment of inspiration that made me come up with the idea and the process to make them:


granted everything is still very much in the prototype stages, but...

The goverment didn't help me with that.

I had to make a mould.  I welded one up.  Now, somebody had taught me how to stick weld years ago, because they got paid to.   But I bought a wire welder and taught myself how to mig.

Government didn't help me with that either.

I have to revert back to my Gordon Gekko "greed is good! "  speech.  Money is an excellent motivator.

I really don't tihnk the gov. intends to use any of the money "payed forward" to assist a single business get started.  I suspect it will be use to continue to support those who aren't near interested in starting any business of their own.
