Cat question..
« on: August 07, 2012, 09:33:00 PM »
The new mouser just had kittens.
I guess the gravel in the driveway causes pregnancy in cats because she was here two months and two days before she had her litter..
She's an outdoor cat, largely because I'm allergic. I pet her outside and then wash/change whatever petted/touched..
(Everything is a compromise..)
> She had them a few days ago and she is still "spotting" blood. Is this a problem?
> How long before she brings them out?
They're under the shed..

-- No, I don't have money to have her fixed..

Congratulations Papa!!! Generally, as long as Mama is nursing the new litter, that's a good sign.  The spotting should stop with a healthy Mama Cat.

Old blanket, dry area,, it should be 2-3 weeks before some movement.

Yes I have a degree in "p***sy patrol" and a litter or two,....Make sure Mama Cat doesn't abandon the litter, otherwise all should be well.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Can't tell or see anything yet.. Too far under the shed..
Her hunting instincts are intact, sure enough! I can tell she's already burned out on kittens.. She was too young to have a litter but at least some of them must have made it because she's camped out under there when she's not out and about..
She made it plain enough that she prefers our company to theirs, so I have to make sure I limit the attention to a little milk and a few strokes.. Once this is over, I'm going to pick up trying to teach her to be a "Squirrel Retriever". She just gives me "the look" after the first shot. After the second shot, she takes off under something or in the woods.. She has a taste for blood. I hope I can develop that into something fun to mess around with. It'll save me the "finish it off" round too..
I know, I'm dreamin.. Just would be a funny thing to accomplish if I could..  ;D

Is that the same as saying, "Any one who thinks cats are "domesticated" has never lived with one" ?
They only tolerate us because they can't work a can opener.   ;D

You should ask around town for low-cost/free spay/neuter clinics.  We have one here in Austin.

I'm afraid we're not in a community with such a bountiful SPCA fund.
It's looking like she's gonna be the type that has her name on the stall door of the mens room..
She's not spending the time I would like to see with them, either.. Barefoot.. Alabama.. Born on the same mountain I was.. Prospects not looking good for the kittens..
I've only seen two cats on this road. Only one (other one) in the yard, once, howling, several months ago now.. I'm guessing he's the happy father.. Good looking and necessarily tough cat, at least..
This one of mine is at least quiet. I hope the kittens take their voice after their mother.. That tom had a head on it like a "Skeeters" biscuit.. (You have to know Gainesville Florida to know how big that is)..
This cat is a really good mouser! Before she had this litter, she gave me a mouse every time I gave her a little salmon. She needs help though.. Too bad it'll take 6 months before the new ones will be in the game..
