A solicitation which appears on the FedBizOpps website asks for 16,000 rounds of .40 S&W jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullets, noted for their strength, to be delivered to locations in Ellsworth, Maine, and New Bedford, Mass.  A further 6,000 rounds of S&W JHP will be sent to Wall, New Jersey, with another 24,000 rounds of the same bullets heading to the weather station in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The solicitation also asks for 500 paper targets to be delivered to the same locations in Maine, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

Hollow points for shooting at paper targets?  They must have a money tree out back.  Oh wait, that's our money.  Nevermind.

Talk about government waste.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

Why on earth do the weather geeks at NOAA need pistol ammunition ?
Would you please look into this matter.

WTF?

Why do weather-guessers need ammo?

Something stinky here.  If it's true: and that is the question.

I saw it on Drudge, but the same link and I don't have much faith in Alex Jones.

Could be a very interesting election result no matter which way it turns out.

It could be some shooters taking advantage of the Gov's "bulk purchase" discount hoping that "NOAA" just blends in with all the other initials.
If so we just screwed them hard.   ;D

maybe we stumbled on an agency that doesn't exist - BIC didn't get hauled off in a dark sedan or a blacked out suburban did he?  :o
Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, 60 rounds powder and ball and be ready to march at a minute's warning.

I'm going to guess that NOAA has buildings full of lots of very expensive equipment.  Do they contract out security or keep it internal?  If they do it themselves, they need ammo for their firearms.  Big IF.  It's sketchy either way.
