Fitting grips on an ambidextrious 1911

I'm thinking about getting new grips for my Springfield Loaded. 

What I need to know is there a trick to cut out the excess material if I get ajax plastic grips or ivory grips?  Does Midway have a jig for such a procedure?

Many makers will make 1911 grips specifically for ambidextrous safeties.  Check for those first.

As a left hander, the amount of material removed on grips is minimal for the ambi side.

I know some come adapted for ambi safeties, but for wood grips, a clean file can provide solid results.

Plastic grips or Ivory is certainly more of a factor Is there a reputable gunsmith in town, he might have a "special tool", or perhaps another option, that gives you the best result.

I would check with Ajax when ordering the grips, they may have them already cut out for the ambi safety

Also, does anyone know if anyone is releasing ambis without that retaining arm, like what Kimber is using now?
