I'd also remind you Floridians that your Governor just endorsed the re-election efforts of the socialist in the White House!

I had a CC license in CT in 1983!  When did FL adopt concealed carry?  I'm not defending the New England states liberal leanings but CT and MA for the most part are independents, not democrats.  Since the early 90's with the exception of the current governors, we elect republican governors, pretty much the same with RI.

Anti gun and Second Amendment groups, and many in our very own government claim to be fighting gun violence.  They are spending (wasting) billions of our money playing these games, and they are trying to force private industry to spend billions of dollars or slowly go out of business.  However in all of this they are not addressing the true issue - VIOLENCE.

The issue is not the gun.  The issue is violence.

The idea of attacking the gun to end gun violence is like trying to cure acne by studying the pock marks decades later, like trying to cure chicken pox by dealing with the scabs, and like trying to cure alcoholism by removing livers from drinkers.  If you want to stop killing and danger to people you address the problem - The violent nature of human beings.  Taking away a tool will never stop the act.

Or like in the "civilized" countries....
First they came for the guns,

Then they came for the (kitchen) knives.

Then the came for the bar glasses;

What next?

Huh? ??? He's speaking at the GOP Convention...

Florida Gov Rick Scott also released this statement: "There is no question that Rick Santorum ran a hard fought campaign. I commend his passion and his willingness to put the best interest of our party and nation first. Mitt Romney will be our party's nominee and it is critical that all Republicans coalesce behind Governor Romney and focus on electing him as President so he can put the policies in place to create jobs, turn our economy around and get federal spending under control.

I think you meant FORMER Gov. Charlie Crist who is so much of waffling, wimpy RINO, the Rep. Party abandoned him. Hell, he makes Lindsey Graham look like a Reagan Conservative. ::)

FL, prior to 85 was an open carry state, when the outcry was deafening when they ended OC, Marion Hammer fmr. FL Rep. and a Big Shot at the NRA, fought for CC and got it in 1987.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

I think Marion Hammer's fight for CCW started before she became a Rep to carry it on. She was indeed a "big shot" with NRA, she was the President of it for at least one term, maybe more.
To carry on from Tim's comment, I got my first carry permit in Me. when I got out of the Marines in '80 . I ran into one of the local cops at the local store, once I told him I wanted an application, next time I filled it out while he was gabbing with my Dad and the store owner, next time I saw him  he said "I've been carrying this to give it to you." that was only a couple days later.
My Dad got his NH permit in the early 70's.

The most civilized country is Switzerland, if you are to old or feeble to qualify for a free automatic weapon or anti tank weapon they will give you a really good price on one.
They have the lowest crime rate in Europe, funny how that works.

I'm a Michigander....a northerner but technically not a Yankee!  I've lived trapped here in the New England for thirty years now.  I'll probably never escape since my wife and daughter will never leave.  One of my brothers lives out here as well...I've come to terms with it!
