Scored a MEC 9000G 12 gauge reloader off of Craig's List
« on: August 30, 2012, 09:15:09 PM »
Sweet!

It came with 3 bags of Western/Winchester WT12 orange wads, a half bag of Remington Wads, and like a third of a bag of Claybuster wads.

I have been saving my Winchester AA 12 gauge hulls for years.

There is still plenty of Clays in the 8 pound jug.

And I make my own shot.  Pretty much have a free source of lead too.   ;D

Just need 209 primers now.

Somewhere around the house is the Lyman shotshell reloading manual, and I will have to check out component interchangeability.  The former owner was using Red Dot.  So I will have to check what that particular bushing in the charge bar actually drops of Clays.  Coming over from a Dillon 650, it would make more sense to get a Universal Charge Bar.

Tyler, don't waste your money on a universal charge bar, find a load that does what you want find a bushing that is as close as possible without going over max load and stick with it.Less fuss and head scratching trying to get it set up

What he said.  The diffrence between a good load and a gun blowing up in your hands. Is very little when it comes to shot guns.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

Shotshells are a lot different than rifle and handgun loads, and the tiny differences don't affect accuracy.  It is quicker, easier and more accurate to just change the bushings in MEC charge bars.
