SOMERVILLE - Despite Gov. Deval Patrick’s concerns that it might be used to “identify and police” undocumented immigrants, the Registry of Motor Vehicles will be able by January to implement a new law requiring that vehicles be registered only by someone with “proof of legal residence,” according to Registrar Rachel Kaprielian.

“We will be ready by the time that the law takes effect, which in my understanding is January 1,” Kaprielian told the News Service before Wednesday’s Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Board of Directors meeting in Somerville.

Gov. Deval Patrick unsuccessfully sought to amend and then vetoed legislation with the new requirement, but the Legislature rejected his amendment and then overrode his veto, 24-10 in the Senate and 135-19 in the House. The plan was inserted into the fiscal 2013 state budget and while proponents said that it was a common sense safety measure, Patrick said it veered too far into stringent immigration enforcement.

The sad thing is that I really doubt Romney will be any better about this than BO. BO protects the illegals because he wants the latino vote. Mitt is a creature of the Chamber of Commerce who wants the cheap labor, and doesn't care about screwing American workers, hell he made his money outsourcing jobs. Buchanan 2012?

This douche has repeatedly stated that "there are no illegal immigrants in Massachusetts!"  He doesn't recognize them as illegal.  Martha Coakly (State AG) has backed him up on this.  He's actually further left than Obama and he was overridden by the most leftist state legislature in the country!

Since you don't stay very well informed I will point out to you that even the uber Liberal Washington Post has said that that is BS.
In fact they pointed out that with all the stimulus money that went to Finland and China Obama has a horrible record on outsourcing, while Bain under Romney's control was  quite good about keeping jobs in the US.
As gov of Mass he was accused of outsourcing because work the dem legislature wanted to send to China he outsourced to...
