Wow!  Another BP agent killed.!?

Off to google in a minute...

The main thing with aluminum foil hats is the shiney side has to be facing out.

as pictured here, the children are using the monopole omnidirectional technique which provides a multitude of protection across a wider spectrum of the RF range.

EDIT:  changed the "j" out in "projection" to make it "protection" .  Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket.   ;)

They also look like a big Hersey Kiss stuck on their heads, all it needs is the paper "flag".

My ex-brother-in-law scoffed at tinfoil hats.

He knew that there were micro processors in the paint on the inside walls of his house and they recorded everything that went on to later transmit the data to airplanes as they flew over in the Air Traffic Pattern for Wright Patterson AFB.

He also kept a blanket over the screen of his television because the government could watch through the set, even when it was turned off.

Don't laugh Solus, the only way to insure they don't do exactly that with your cell phone is to take the battery out.
If the NSA has identified your phone they can activate it without the lights or tones and either track it or listen to what is said near it.
This was confirmed in a NYT article 10 years ago about how the CIA was catching terrorists.
It came out just before Bin Laden quit using cell phones.

This was back in '68...we hadn't even landed on the moon yet.   The man was way ahead of  his time.

Most cable installations are two way ....so they could be close.

I happen to have started cutting the power to my TV ...not for security reasons, but the damn thing was running up my utility bill 24/7.  It's lucky I didn't shoot it.

Microwave, and high end coffee makers will as well, anything with lights and timers.
Each one isn't much, but when you start adding up all the gadgets in a house.....

well, at least I have the coffee maker covered.

Boil water in a pot and pour it over the just ground beans....

Really does make great coffee.

And now lets drift over to Sweet Maria's where you, too, can acquire this wonder coffee pot.

If any of you are as much of a Coffee Nut as you are a Gun Nut, you might enjoy it  :D :D

There is some radio station in St. Louis where people would call in and leave comments.  Some guy said he was a cable installer and was absolutely serious talking about how the new plasma screens were actually like a lens as well and would be like having a huge video camera in your living room broadcasting video and audio back to NSA/CIA HQ.

I about died laughing.  He was so serious.

Maybe you shouldn't laugh Tyler, how big is a cell phone and that can send video.
How much of that microcircuit sh!t could you hide in something the size of a TV .
A while back there was a thread about "fake" mosquitoes that were actually drones.

The idea of spying through the TV goes back at least as far as Orwell's 1984, that was how big brother kept track of every one, they had to keep their TVs on.

Cell phones are not phones but digital radios. Most have a camera so all the parts are there. All the new ones are transmitting GPS coordinates routinely unless you go in and turn off the aps that use it. If you find a radio and a camera in your TV then forget the foil hat and go for the tin foil tent!

Thanks for a belly laugh with this thread.
