there actually is an electronic gadget meant to be hung outside a store, even inside I guess.  It is basically a speaker that emits a mosquito swarming type noise.  during the aging process us adults lose the ability to hear that part of the sound spectrum.  But anynody under 25 still can hear that frequency and it makes it uncomfortable for them to be around.

Found it!  It's called the "Sonic Screen" here in the U.S. And Canada:

wanna hear somethin' funny? I work in an engine room and use earplugs daily. I have noticed (not surprisingly to some of you I am sure) that I have lost or noticed impairment of my hearing in some frequencies. (like the one my wife uses when she starts to whine :) ). yet, I have also noticed that frequencies most folks don't notice have been intensified (super high freqs) in fact, I can hear the squeaky squeaky sound of dolphins. lose some senses, and others are intensified. Yup.
all that being said, I would probably have a problem with the mosquito store. damn squiters..... I may not be old (by most of my fellow forum members standards), but I ain't that young either.

Apparently you didn't read the article, he's been doing that and as soon as the cops leave they come back, it's a game to them, like a baby throwing something on the floor for you to pick up.

I read it Tom!  That is why I didn't just say 911.  Call them and call them and call them!

Law enforcement is there to protect and to serve.  They are not solving the problem.  I have tried but there is no other way than to come right out and say these cops are lazy and not performing their duty.

What do you expect, they are Union Democrats, do their shift, get their pension and 20 years of the nut.
Go through the motions and don't rock the boat.
Years ago there was a problem with stuff disappearing AFTER robberies in Detroit so a news crew filmed officers responding to robberies.
National TV news showed video of cops loading their cruisers with booze and cigarettes even when they knew the cameras were there.
The local gangstas have probably paid off the cops to do nothing that will interfere with business, and since they won't get any support from the liberal democrat judges, or the politically appointed democrat administrators they take the money, live out of the city and let the mutts look after themselves.
What this guy should do is pay a competing gang to do a couple drive bys.

Were it not for the passing traffic, I'd suggest he leave the top off of one of the underground tanks and take his help out to a long lunch. I'm guessing these ornaments aren't all that bright, and would thump a cigarette butt in the hole soon enough..
No more ornaments hanging around and insurance gets to rebuild his station, (somewhere else).
With friends like these, who needs hallucinations!..

Still won't work.  They recently had on the news a story about a store owner who had been broken in 15 times by the same two punks. Had their faces on video and everything!  Cops did nothing.

To show how bad it is, The Detroit News printed this on a story talking about Detroit Progress:

Quote
Detroit — Don't tell these Detroiters about crime or troubled schools or lack of amenities and shopping.

Never mind that it can take hours for first responders to make it to emergencies, or that firefighters may have no ladder truck to reach a two-story house fire.

Tribes of nearly 800 new Detroiters, mostly college educated in their 20s and 30s with annual incomes between $30,000 and $60,000, have flocked into pockets of the city in just over a year thanks to programs that are encouraging people to live here.

From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20121004/OPINION01/210040328#ixzz28TtragY4

Not only do they admit it takes that long, but it is accepted.   Now that is crazy!

Now with that in mind, and the local punks knowing this, what do you think those punks will do to your business when you chase them off.

Got marshmellows?

Not only do you have to chase them off, but you need security and firepower to pushback the upcomming payback assault.  That'll add a bit to your overhead.

That's what 50 years of Democrats and Unions gets you.
