Can it be sarcastic if it's true?
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:24:08 AM »
Can you tell the truth, and because the truth is so over the top, that you can be accused of being sarcastic for having told it?
(We've heard it all before, but the summaries of Obamas term are beginning to surface.. Here's one.)
With friends like these, who needs hallucinations!..

There are some right on this forum that buy into the lefts propaganda.
Think of the knee jerk reaction of certain members to a couple of the names mentioned here .
(Pay attention FQ )

Neither the left nor the right should "shut up". That's what makes us so strong among nations. Tom vs FQ is so American it's astonishing. You two make this forum more like Fox News than MSNBC. When you two agree, that scares the bejeezus out of the rest of us right wingnuts. And that is good too. Don't get me wrong. I have no room for left-wing commie-pinko socialists like Obama...just wanted to clear the air!

This pretty much sums up the difference between right and left, as well as FQ and I.
He thinks everyone is inherently good, while I assume that even the best of people merely wage a battle against their natural tendency to be a selfish bastard.

Thanks, Tom. That is a good last word indeed.

Bill Whittle is one of the smartest people I've seen on TV.
Right up there with Ben Stein, Thomas Sowell, and Glenn Beck.

Tom, unless you subscribe to Glen Beck's TV program all we can do is listen to him on radio and get his daily emails. He seemed to have lost his TV audience when he went religious. I liked him better when he was connecting the dots, but he ran afoul of rich liberals when he connected too many dots between them and the government. Or was it he got too big for O'Reilly to keep around? They made a great pair but O'Reilly finds pairing with Miller is not a threat to himself? Agree somewhat with Stein. Haven't made up my mind on Sowell.

From what I've heard about Beck, Fox told him to tone it down and he told them to stuff it.
I don't listen to talk radio, but I get the Firewire every day.
One thing to remember about GB is that he is a recovering alcoholic, and recovery programs tend to push religion so the individual does not have the feeling that the entire load is on them . If the person copes successfully they will carry that faith into other aspects of their thinking .
On top of that religious faith has long been one of the pillars of Western society and a leading incentive for doing the "right" thing.
I'm not big on religion myself however I recognize its philosophical, and cultural influence on the principles America was founded on .
Stein is not only smart, he can be funny as well, Sowell, the more you read him the smarter he gets  ;D

I agree he's one smart cookie.  And having heard some of his biography it was not an easy path...but when do people take the easy path?

OH...when they are the first black POTUS.... ::)
