10/22 harmonic tuner
« on: October 23, 2012, 11:04:56 PM »
finally got around to taking a photo of the harmonic barrel tuner on my STC 10/22 that I commented on in the reloading section...so as not to get in trouble with posting in the wrong section, thought I'd try here... the tuner allows you to tune for barrel harmonics, and you can shoot a group, move the tuner, shoot a group, etc.... until you get the smallest...allows you to custom tune the barrel to your ammo, rather than experimenting with a lot of different ammo manufacturers and loads...  1 1/8" aluminum round stock... .930" hole, saw slit, cross pinch bolt... tuned in a 15/16" ten shot group at 100y (Winchester Super X high velocity)

Very cool.   And very good group.

Did you make this?  What you consider making some up and selling them?

Not sure it's high on my priority list right now, but curious about it.
Will work for ammo

alfsauve... yes I made it... no, don't want to produce them... just passing on the idea... note also the second barrel bedding lug forward...additional view of the cantilever mount...and possibly you can see the modification to the trigger return plunger... very critical is to limit the vertical movement of the firing pin... for STC it was fitted with a Tasco 6-24 x 44 AO with 1/8minute dot 1/8minute clicks

Thanks for posting..... I love the technical stuff like this, as I am a tinkerer by nature.
Very cool, Les.
