Well, in Western MD we just plan to get wet. As for the NE, well if you're a Republican just walk to the polls (up to 50 miles okay). If you're a Democrat, just wait at home (the government will come and get you...haha). No late voting and no more early voting either. If the machines don't work, fill out the ballot by hand. If you can't read English, what the hell you doing voting anyway? And, how'd you get a driver's license or get registered? Jesus, what a country, eh?

My town (at the moment) has paper ballots and a Sharpie!

Not a problem and yes, it's within walking distance!

BTW, the local Fox station out of Boston ran a poll on the web last week and had Romney leading by REGISTERED voters that polled, 66% to 22% over ODumbass!

There are other reports where they're saying 5 inches of rain and 40 mph wind. I used to love the weather channel when it silently showed you maps. You could watch the map, watch the movement, and determine what was going to happen. Since Jim Cantore took over the Weather Channel with his band of screeching harpies, every rain storm and every snowflake is the mother of all a** raping storms, destined to go down as the "Day the World Ended".  All our politicians, understandably not wanting to be the next Ray Nagin, automatically call evacuations so they don't have to think, make decisions, or accept any responsibility.

It really IS the Jersey Shore.

Now the information on track, winds and surge is getting a little better.

Whaddya' think now?

I am wondering what your local assessments are in the impact area today.  Any change in your thinking?

Now, if you're 50-100 miles from the coast I wouldn't think so much.  But if inside 50 miles from coast whaddya' think now?

I'm going to get a few more gallons of water, some batteries and go to work tomorrow.  My wife is canceling a doctors appointment but that's the extent of what we've decided.

I'm 90 miles inland from the south and 45 from the east at nearly 800 ft above sea level and no expectation of winds above 30-40 sustained with heavier gusts.  Might lose power so we've forgone going to the market till Wednesday.

Where I lived for 30 years in Cape May (2 blocks from the beach) is still dry but should start flooding tonight. The water is up pretty high.

Where I'm at now is about 5 miles from the ocean, 1-1/2 miles from the Delaware Bay. and about 3/4 mile from the canal that connects the two. Not worried a bit. There are plenty of low areas and swampy inlets to take most of the water.

I'm as prepared as I would have been anyway. My point is that they take the worst possible scenario and act like that's the least that is going to happen.
When it's over I'll bet the high doesn't push it in to land as much and the other low tears up the circulation rather than "combining" with Sandy.
Mark my words. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

You're probably right. Remember, weather guys get paid to scare the crap out of you.

Just got back from the market to get some stuff as my kid and her man meat are coming up to watch a football game I could give two shits about!  The Patriots and Rams in jolly old London...

Anyway...one thing in New England that always rings true during these storms is that people around here can be some rude assholes...

Last night they were reporting that Sandy was struggling to remain a hurricane.
It is currently a category 1 storm which, while stronger than we usually get is far from being the "Super storm" it is being hyped as.
This ain't no Katrina.

Shop sent everyone home at noon because of the blow.  Tomorrow is questionable but thankfully, I'm an employee as of today so I get paid (exempt salaried) regardless!

Liquor stores remain open so we're good here!
