Oh yeah, go shoot something, anything. The sound of gunfire will make your wife want to cuddle...while you both watch NCIS!!!!!!

Done shot stuff.  She don't want to cuddle, and neither do I.  'Specially with her.  And, I refuse to watch television!  :-X

Oh, BTW, relax.  ;D :-* Jacked/drifted threads make for the best reading.

This thread starts with FBG buying a gun and you guys turn it into who watches what on TV? Good job, FBG, congrats. So please suffer in silence from now on so we can be spared TV sagas. Oh yeah, go shoot something, anything. The sound of gunfire will make your wife want to cuddle...while you both watch NCIS!!!!!!
Do I get to cuddle with Ziva? I'm sure the sound of gunfire would bee a turn on? ;D

We all must be bored silly. Okay, FBG, what's so special about your CZ? I would like to know, because I'm thinking of buying one as a Christmas gift for my wife. It would complement the bench saw I bought her last year!

Well, Mr lobo,

The CZ83 is a .380,  looks just like the 82 9mm Mak, rounded trigger guard and all.  Shoots very sweet.  Metal is smooth and clean, finish is probably 85-90%, but that doesn't matter as I will have it refinished.  New wood grips on order already.  A little snappy on recoil, perhaps an 16 or 18 pound recoil spring is in order.

Got it as a carry piece for myself.  Mrs is pretty livid right now cause I didn't 'consult' her about the purchase.  Fits her hand very well, though with a stronger recoil spring, she might not be able to rack the slide.

Nice and compact, not much bigger than my hand, but still fills the hand nicely.

Last month the wife was out in the living room watching TV and I was trying to sleep when I remembered I hadn't chambered a round after letting my daughter show her boyfriend the gun she shoots in USPSA (I cleared it and then she checked for herself  ;) ).  Well the distinct sound of a round being chambered caught my wife's ear and she came charging in through the bathroom's pocket door after throwing on the light (her reason will be clear in a second) and asked me if I had just "cocked" my gun... WFT?!? HUH?  No... a few more attempts at communication were attempted before I realized what happened.  She heard the gun chambering a round and thought I was getting ready to do someone harm and the only person she could think of was her, which is why she didn't come straight into the bedroom, and was coming to face danger head on....
 :-X
LOL! Its funny looking back on it but I had a hell of time falling a sleep that night.

And another thing for Mr. lobo, you had oughta get that CZ-83 right quick.  CZ has announced the models discontinued in 2013, and the 83 is among them. Tain't many new ones out there now.

fatbaldguy,

The CZ sounds sweet indeed, but wonder if wifey can handle the recoil. She is of petite build. But will certainly look for one locally. After all, it could turn out just like the bench saw (which she refuses to use, but suggests I wear it in an uncomfortable manner!). Glad you found yours. We have a Silverado gun show coming here next weekend and I'll just have to wander over and take a look around. Might be VERY crowded however, if the election goes the wrong way. Any advice on buying at a gun show would be appreciated as I normally don't go that route (only been to two)?

Recoil of a modern .380 is minimal at best.  Shouldn't be a problem for a woman or girl if they have some experience.  If they're new to shooting, I'd suggest starting them off with a .22 lr and work up to the larger calibers.

My daughter started with 9mm and never had any issues but not everyone is the same.  Today, she'll shoot her 9mm Sig, her fellas, P229 in 40 S&W and even handled my 1911.  The more they shoot, the more comfortable they feel and the better their grip is on the gun.  Proper technique can further mitigate the "felt recoil" of any gun.

Definitely go with the .380.
9MM Mak can be a bit snappy.

That's the same show they did here this weekend.  I've NEVER been that impressed with it.  The one in Upper Marlboro is two tables of rifles, a table of reloading stuff, and fifty tables of crap.  Occassionaly there is a table or two worth looking at, but I'm not in the market for Class 3 stuff or repro knives from the Civil War.
The one at the Dulles Expo Center is MUCH better, but being in VA you can't buy pistols.  That one has multiple tables of just about everything.

When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

You are either SOLVING the problem, or you ARE the problem.
