Heading back to the Gun Shop
« on: November 12, 2012, 08:46:35 PM »
I have been working about a year and a half on a couple of contract jobs. I got done with my last one about 3 weeks ago. A lot of the funding has been put on hold so I'm going back into gun sales.

I got layed off over 3 years ago and can't find a permanent full time job thanks to the Obama economy. The old shop is expanding so they need some help. So I'm heading back while I try to scare up some more work.

At least I'll get some discounts from the manufacturers and retail discounts for ammo.

Sounds like I need to put a certain stop back on my list when I'm at the office  ;D

At least you have the gun shop which is more than most have to work.

And while I don't like to work retail if I did I'd love to do it in a gun store.
Will work for ammo

You bet!  I have to work my way back into a good schedule.  I'm working the weekend shift for now.

Not much of a future but it is better than sitting around.  You can only network so much in a week.  I'm caught up on most of the to do's around the house.

Beat of luck to ya, Watchman. But being in gun sales can't be bad for now. Business should be booming before Obama and the UN do us in. Wish you were in MD and not MN, but bet you don't!

It was nice to have the option.   I just called them yesterday afternoon and was on the schedule within a couple of hours.  Most of the employees are in their twenties and like guns.  I'm a seasoned shooter, shoot IDPA and IDPA DMG (3-gun) so not only can I sell to customers - I can help out the less experienced sales people.  I sold a lot of big ticket guns and accessories last time.  The guys and women with money to burn tend to gravitate to the sales people with more shooting experience and gun knowledge.

Retail can be a drag and the money isn't very good but it ain't bad to have the chance to handle almost any gun on the market and be able to shoot them from the range inventory.  BTW - The rental shop and range have pistols (Glock 18) and rifles available with a giggle switch.  I can shoot them for just the price of ammo.  My wife has said I can't spend more than mt take home pay.

Remember this about the weekend shift, your days off are days when other companies are open and you can drop off resume's and applications.
