I got an email reply today.
Dear Frank,
Thank you for contacting me about outdoor recreation. As a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus I share your support for hunting and fishing.
Hunting and fishing have been at the center of Michigan's history and culture from the very beginning. Each year, over 8 million acres of public hunting land and tens of thousands of rivers and streams in Michigan draw more than one million hunters and anglers. These men and women add billions to our state's economy and help create jobs in our communities. With some of the best hunting and fishing in the United States, Michigan's proud heritage comes with a sense of profound responsibility to protect that legacy for future generations.
As Chairwoman of the Agriculture Committee, protecting fish and wildlife habitats has been one of my top priorities while working on the Farm Bill. We are strengthening conservation efforts that will protect wildlife habitats and increase access for hunters and anglers across the country. As Congress continues to debate matters related to hunting and fishing, I will be sure to keep your views in mind.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed about issues of concern to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator
