Roza Sabina, WWII Sniper
« on: November 18, 2012, 01:29:32 PM »
This is a great little video on a Russian female sniper from WWII. It doesn't get get much more hard core than this. Its worth a watch. And damned if it doesn't make me want to buy a Moisin, even if I am not right handed. ;D

I had a picture of Lyudmila Pavlichenko on the glass front of one of my storage cabinets... caption: Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Hero of the Soviet Union, and underneath the number 309....a few of my curious 9th graders asked what the 309 meant... most of my Bosnian kids knew exactly what the 309 meant....

Ummm....she was shooting Nazis who invaded her country.  Granted there weren't any good guys in that fight, but I'd say she was on the closest thing to the right team team there was under the circumstances. Stalin may have been an SOB, but at least he didn't invade Germany. Its like the Civil War. I don't have a lot of love for the Southern pols, but the vast majority of the soldiers fought to repel what they saw as an invasion. Same in Russia, it wasn't about communism, it was about killing Germans.

I know the history FQ!

As far as Soviets and Nazi's, they're both the wrong team and both wrong in their ideology!  I commend these women for defending their homeland much like our Minutemen but, fighting for the wrong ideology is still fighting for the wrong ideology!  The Soviet Propaganda machine is legendary in it's misinformation!

The Cold War was pretty much moved to the universities by the time you graduated HS!  I lived and served through that and still consider the Russian's my enemy.  YMMV...sorry if it doesn't jive with your understanding of the world!

Hit a sore spot there old man?  Ignornace can be both bliss and a penchant to avoid responsibility.

Is that a dig at me Ken or an affirmation?

Maybe I'm getting too old to keep posting on this forum...   ???

Quite frankly, the talk here is getting pretty tedious anyways.  Maybe it's time I left...
