How many times does it take for idiots to realize that facebook isn't private, and that there are consequences for public actions?

I guarantee that they will apply for unemployment.  Let's see if the worker in charge has the nads to classify this one as ineligible.

No matter how despicable we believe these asshats actions to be, this is still a 1st Amendment issue and they should not have lost their jobs over this.

Feel free to crucify me now but remember, I'm a Veteran from a family with 42 years of active duty service and that's not counting my fathers four brothers who served as well!

I ain't throwing rocks Timothy, too much glass around here.  Yeah, the dumb bit*c has first amendment rights.  Her employer also has the right to dismiss her for behavior that reflects badly upon the organization.

I think John Wayne said this in a movie;  'Life's tough, it's tougher if your stupid.'  Maybe she'll learn a lesson from this incident.  If not, she can always say;  'You want fries with that?'
“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.”

Considering she did this despicable act during a company sponsored outing, I'd tend to agree that he had cause but she/they may still have a case if they chose to pursue it legally!

I tend to lean with Tim on the firing being extreme, to the extent that the crap storm they stirred and resultant public embarrassment probably should have been enough 'punishment'.......but FBG also has a valid point.
I know when I was in a salaried/supervisory position at my former place of employment, in order to accept the position I had to sign a contract that, in effect, said that I could be rightfully terminated for engaging in practices deemed a 'public embarrassment' to the company.

First Amendment, all Constitutional issues, are to protect us from government.  Private business can fire you for anything they wish if you work "at will."  There are race, sex and all those where government has put rules on private business, but in a case like this where private business is acting in their own best interest and the interest of their clients the First Amendment does not protect these two.

I'll concede to a very valid argument from M58...

Well put and thanks for the reminder of whom the Constitution is meant to protect us from!
