Gun shop rumor

I was in the local store today getting a new sight put on an FN and we got to talking about new gun laws.  The store worker was talking about how they heard or feared that they would try to turn AR type of rifles into a class III type of firearm.   That way they do not outright ban them, but make them so much more difficult and then an added $200 tax on them to get them.
They were saying that it is a way to get the gun banners off their back, but also say it was common sense to make them class III and an extra hoop.   
I hope this is not the case, but did not know if anyone else has heard anything like this?

What makes you think that they won't try it?  Look at the things that slip through in the dark, and what gets ramrodded in broad daylight.

It may be paranoid speculation, or it may be prophetic.  The difference will be defined in hindsight.

What scares me most, MrMatt, is that there are gun owners who go along with that logic.   My common sense says you meet the bear head on, not feed him your food until you have no more, then he comes after you.

I heard the same sort of give up statement from a small FFL dealer at a gun show in Texas this weekend.  He said he got his FFL because he didn't want to be a contributor to the problems associated with the "gun show loophole".  I know gun sales are probably a large contributor to this guys livelyhood, but come on!  (to clarify, this guy was a private individual not a "dealer" that deals in new guns nor does he have a store)

To bad we have folks in the "culture" helping the gun grabbers make the case that there actually is a hole that needs to be plugged.

Boy you hit the nail on the head having a culture that helps gun grabbers.  It's like Obama when he bows to other nation's leaders.  Some of these guys have it in them to be "good boys" and all that will get you a "chump" label when they take your stuff.  It also shows these guys who think this are followers and not leaders.  Everybody let that sink in please...when people want to be known as someone who wants to hide in the system or work within the system and especially when they think they will get some kind of praise, recognition or special protection they are lemmings not leaders.  Not that you have to go headstrong against every idea good and bad just recognize some people can't help themselves because they are followers.

Gun control has become a smoke screen issue .
When the Dems need to distract the sheep from another economic screwing, Constitutional infringement, or legal, or ethical violation by one of their members they float an AWB, or magazine ban.
All the complacent blowhards rant and scream "They'll get my guns from my dead hands", "They aren't taking MY Rights" blah, blah blah.
Mean while they don't even notice the disappearance of privacy laws, TSA feeling up Grannies and little girls, but not young Muslim men, and a Govt setting them up for 75%+ unemployment, triple digit inflation, and $22TRILLION  in debt.
The Dems would be wise to rescind the NFA and GCA 68.
Let everyone mail order belt fed machine guns.
None of the sheep would use them for their intended purpose anyway, they might miss "Dancing with the Stars" or "2 1/2 Men".
The people of this nation deserve whats coming.

If they make "AR type weapons" Class III then that would impact sales of used guns would it not?  For example, if I wanted to sell my AR-15 that was purchased in 2008 to an individual then that buyer would have to be a Class III license holder, correct?  If they use this to trap "grandfathered" weapons then they can take the next step to say ownership is illegal and you have to turn them in; you would not have the option of selling quickly and if you held onto it then you were breaking the law.

This is very different than the previous AWB where everything was grandfathered, the old ones are legal and new ones had to have certain cosmetic changes to be compliant.  Labeling them Class III is very different and extremely concerning.
