Doing my civic duty

Jury duty.   got a summons yesterday, saying I was supose to be there on the 19 of oct.   sent to the old address of corse.

Last time I got summoned I just had to phone in and I was told to call back the next day. When I did I was excused. Even if you do have to show up, its not a big deal, most trials are just one or two days. Just imagine yourself at the defendent's table. You'd want at least one intelligent person on the jury. Consider it paying it forward.

This is the 4th time I have been called.  2 times I got stuck on a jury.  I feel naked, riding public transit, no knife, no gun,  last time I was on light rail I watched a guy get shot 3 times in the head from less then 6 feet.   guy lived lol.

OK, that sucks. Did you ask for hazardous duty pay? Not funny, but I mean down here the worst I have to worry about is the bad coffee in the courthouse and the lack of parking.

There is like 50 parking places.  I have never seen one open and I spent years working near it.    it will cost me like $30 in gas and atleast $20 for parking if I can find it..  Or $6 for a day pass.  Hmmmm

      Been called three times, my wife none. Served on a jury once and it lasted one day, but the duty lasted 3 weeks. Here the Court House has two parking garages, validates your parking tickets and pays you $20 per day. Last time was just five months ago, lasted one day. I was interviewed by the judge but was turned down by the defense after the prosecutor asked me where I had worked before retirement (the judge's smile told it all!). Enjoy, there is no higher calling for us stiffs, but be safe. Ask if you can store your firearm with the Court House or Sheriff's Office for protection in transit.
