Python fest 2012!
« on: December 06, 2012, 04:04:01 PM »
Florida is finally getting its act together on the python front. The Fish and game department is sponsoring a month long bounty hunt with a $1500 prize for the biggest snake. Group outing?

I really dislike the anti-hunting tone of the moron who wrote that "article".  Then again, the history of Floridians doing really stupid shit is long and well documented, so they may have a point.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

He is kind of a cranky Yankee SOB, put he writes the political satire column down here, so that does tend to make you cynical with all the BS we tend to do. I was a little surprised by the anti-snake killing thing though, since wrote a column about how he'd collected some "dead" iguanas from his back yard after a freeze and drove the bodies to a dumpster so the kids wouldn't be traumatized by the carnage. Its amazing what a car heater can do to wake up a comatose reptile. ;D If I were him, I'd still hold a grudge, of course, I'm not a moron from Jersey either and so I wouldn't have put them in my car.(Sorry Jaybet, it was low hanging fruit). ;D

The fun part comes when you're hip deep in the everglades, focused on pythons when a gator comes up and snacks on your leg!   ;D

Good times!

It would be fun if I still lived there, and could still move.. Too bad they're about 10+ years late getting started..
It ought to be open season, year round for all those reptiles that these nose-pierced idiots thought would be a cool/goth/creepy pet..

Never happen, the Copperheads, Watermoccasins, and Coral snakes will keep the Gators away.  ;D

Every time we go down I-75 I try to explain to my wife why that's a prairie.   She insists that because it's got water it can't be.

Like trying to tell her Antarctica is a desert.
