Weren't paying attention in some other earlier threads when some were advocating the contacting of any and all necessary, like Rep's and Senators, et al? ..... (And yes, I did).

It's OK....
I'm used to it, being married and such.

Sorry some of us don't make the grade.
(won't lose sleep over that, though)

I am a NRA Life Member..... but I think in this instance, at least as far as the NRA is concerned, they decided on a course of action and nothing I would have said to them would matter..... besides, their website was shut down.

**EDIT**

I should clarify something..... I'm really not snarking at you, Tom...... I agree 100% that the NRA should not have waited so long. But they did what they did and there's nothing I can do about it now. Frustrating is all.

I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Y'okey Doke, Tom. Jesus.
I'm signing people up, sending money, signing petitions. My senators are Lautenberg and Menendez. Contacting them is like pissing up a rope. But since I'm so stupid I'm contacting them too.

I've got Scott Brown (already endorses major changes), Elizabeth Warren (wouldn't waste my time) and John Kerry!  I'm f*#ked...and, we already have banned magazines and such here...the gov just pushed his one gun a month bill back on the state lawmakers and it'll pass this time I've no doubt.

But I'm a loser so it doesn't matter.

While the NRA did not make a public statement until today, I have no doubt they were all over Congress critters letting them know exactly where they stand.

I doubt they were off on holiday for the past week...all they didn't do was make a public statement.

We will see how good or bad a strategy that was soon enough.

Solus,

I believe they did exactly what we suspected and what they said they did:  The National Rifle Association staff recognized the seriousness of this, and the need for respect.  They sat in their offices planning their next steps, based on the public rants of Pres. BHO and his ilk, they crafted their message, and they laid out their calendar of forward movement.  I don't think anybody heard from the NRA until today when Wayne LaPierre came out and spoke.  Now they are moving full forward.  I have received two communications from them today, and that is the first since the silence started.

Please note that Mr. LaPierre's message was a statement that did not answer or defend against the last six days of ranting.  This was an independent message and proposal.  I believe they are setting the tone and direction of the coming debate.

They answered a lot of the anger directed at the NRA by asking if hating the NRA and guns and gun owners was more important that protecting The Children.

You REALLY don't get it.
For many on the left and in the Administration the answer to that question is YES !
Don't you get yet ?
Do you think it's a coincidence that every time they talk about crime or public safety they always want more gun control laws that don't work ?
Come on, wake up, even a blind squirrel finds the nut once in a while.

Tom, I get it.   It wasn't directed at those folks.

What you don't get is a lot of non-hard core liberals will hear the message and if they don't buy it outright, will start thinking about it.

If, as you say, it is a worthless question, what is the point?  Nothing can be done short of physical action and the NRA is not the group to start that.

That's where you're still wrong, they will say like J posted somewhere, "What do you expect the NRA to say", and then they will do what MSNBC tells them to.
You ever hear the media talk about "Eddie Eagle" ?
Same thing here, thundering silence.
