Small hands + 1911 + 9mm = Springfield EMP.

I really loved mine but I thought it was just a little too small for my average sized hands.

If price were no concern, the EMP would be my first choice, hands down, because it is a 1911, and the mini-1911 issues are solved because the entire gun is scaled down like the Colt mini .380 1911's. I fell in love with the EMP the first time I held one...but could not cough up the asking price.

Economics were the motivating factor for why I would look at the Ruger.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Will look into the Springfield EMP and the Ruger.  I like Rugers, just haven't been able to wrap my head around the poly pistols yet.

What about a Para carry in 9 mm?  Spied a used one recently.  Was also thinking maybe A Smith 3913 if I can find one.

The Smith 39 looks right, but haven' fondled one yet

M&P Shield shoots very well, is very very slim and very affordable if you shop around. Between $400-$475 is about right, anything more is bogus.

This one is $449.00 NIB with two mags.

Good luck finding one.
I have seen a few of the S&W 469 and 669 for sale used recently, they were the compact version of the double stack Model 59 .
About the same price I paid for a new one in 1986 , under $500

If you want a 1911 platform check out the STI Spartan and Trojan.

Don't overlook the Springfield 9 MM. It comes in both a Tactical Model with Novak Sights, and the Target Model with fully adjustable Target Sights. It's quickly becoming my favorite 9 MM paper puncher.
