Stupid question, but...
« on: January 06, 2013, 03:48:11 PM »
Why can't we get a few strong 2nd Adm backing Representatives to add a bill to the debt ceiling to prevent any possibe future anti-gun bills?  There's gonna be a fight for raising it anyway.  Throw in everything we want to make sure they can't take it away.

No "assault weapon" ban
No magazine capacity limits
end all class 3 regs and limits  (or turn them into the AOW rule)
No limits/bans on import firearms, ammo, or related items
No banning of private party sales aka "gun show loophole"
Make any CCW permit valid in all states and territories
And what else you great minds can think of

If the Democrats really want the debt ceiling raised then this is what needs to be passed to get it.

It's the biggest chip the representatives have right now to use against what the Democrat side wants.  Lets use it.

What do you think?

I don't think Obama would really mind going over the cliff...might just speed the over all plan along faster...

And it would be especially attractive if it all could be blamed on the Republicans trying to serve the Gun Lobby.

I meant threaten to shut down the gov by not raising the debt ceiling.  Not the fiscal cliff joke.

McCain and Boner are working on a rule that will prevent any one but them from adding amendments to bills and we all know that they are part of the problem .
McConnel is already talking about shutting down the Gov.

Well, I think anything that limits government can't be a bad thing....

But I imagine both Dems and Repubs won't want anyone else to find out we can do without them.

It happened twice during the carter years and again later, it's just a scare tactic though, just enough to inconvenience citizens then they do what they please.
