Finally, A Politician Who Upholds His Oath Of Office

http://www.kptv.com/story/20596938/local-sheriff-tells-vp-biden-i-will-not-enforce-new-gun-regulations

Quote
LINN COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -
The sheriff of Linn County sent a letter to Vice President Joe Biden informing him he will not enforce any gun laws he deems unconstitutional.

In a letter dated Jan. 14 and sent to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington D.C., Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller wrote politicians are attempting to exploit the deaths of innocent victims in recent criminal events.

He wrote honest and law-abiding people should not be prevented from owning certain types of guns or ammunition magazines.

"Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the president offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies," Mueller wrote. "Nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Linn County, OR."

The sheriff made his feelings perfectly clear in wrapping up his letter.

"In summary, it is the position of this sheriff that I refuse to participate, or stand idly by, while my citizens are turned into criminals due to the unconstitutional actions of misguided politicians."

MY SHERIFF!   My buddy forwarded this to me today and I posted it on FB.  We voted for him without really knowing much other than who endorsed him and he had signs available at the Republican HQ.  His sign will be in my yard next election cycle.
He who dares wins.  SAS

It is my deepest hope that like-minded sheriffs across the country will follow this brave man's actions.

Sheriff Mueller, Sheriff Joe and others like them will go down in history as either heroes or traitors, depending upon which side wins.

Dark days are upon this nation and storms threaten.

Be prepared, my brothers.

I weep for my nation,

Another Sheriff Standing Tall.

We have had only about a hand full of them reported here.

Let us hope the vast majority honor their oath of office and stand by the constitution and the 2A.

County Sheriffs truly may be called upon to be America's Last Line of Defense..our last hope.

There is one more line of defense if the people still have honor and guts enough .
If they don't they deserve the result .

Yeah...but that last line will be more effective with the Sheriff leading it.

I did have a thought though.

If the sheriffs do stand up and win this time, there is no doubt that situation will be 'fixed'.  Either nerfing the power of the sheriffs or making sure the 'right' sheriffs get in....

It might just delay the house cleaning that is needed...

Don't know how good or bad that would be.

Well, I just wrote (emailed) my local sheriff during the President's speech and asked him where he stood. Can't wait to see his response, if in fact he does respond. In his defense, I'd be surprised to see him take a hard line approach to these matters given the political climate in this state. He is a Republican in a sea of Democrat sharks. We'll see.

I visited my sheriff on Monday this week. I had never met him personally and was a bit nervous while waiting my turn. He invited me into his office and I introduced myself. Getting right to the point I referenced the Jackson County KY sheriff and asked him for his take on all of this. He said the day he is asked to confiscate guns will be his last day on the job. He said neither he nor his deputies would honor such a request. Then, we talked a bit more on the state of affairs, specifically Obama. I will not repeat exactly what the sheriff told me, but to say we have agreement on what might happen should O lean any farther toward a monarchy.

Let him know he doesn't have to do what is asked of him if it is unconstitutional.  And he will do more good staying in his job and the fight.  Let them try to force him to do it.
