Love to see the outdoor/shooting industry standing together.  Too bad that so many patrons will be disappointed due to the stupidity of the promoter.

If I were a gun rights group I would have a tough time making the decision one way or another on this one. 

It could be seen as sending a message by not attending that you do not agree with the ban on a certain style of semi-automatic firearm.

Staying involved could be used as a platform to say "We fully disagree with what the producers of this show have done, and here is how we can stop it from becoming law."

Regardless of their reasons, I hope that every business and organization that has decided to boycott takes full advantage of the money they paid for their booth space.  I hope that everyone of them hangs a banner in the booth they already paid for that says "XXXXX has chosen to not participate in the Eastern Sports Show due to their support of the denial of the Constitutionally protected Rights of all law abiding citizens of this great nation."

The show is cancelled.  Check out the news on the main page. This outfit might be out of the Shot Show management.

We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.

NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).

Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

That, and most likely trying to prevent losing their ass on a show that wouldn't have the attendance of a strip show featuring nude dancers from Weight Watchers.
