    15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

    16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

    17. Release a letter to health-care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law-enforcement authorities.

    18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

    19. Develop model emergency-response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

    20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental-health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

    21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

    22. Commit to finalizing mental-health-parity regulations.

    23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

I'm going to get flamed for this but I want you guys to notice something about the proposals...

Almost all of them "on paper" are things we, as a comunity, have said need to happen:
  Better mental health care, and reoprting so mentally unstable persons do not get access to firearms.
  A better system for conducting backgound checks, again so criminals can't get them.
  Better training for first responders in an emergency, along with more police in schools
  Enforcement of existing laws concerning stolen firearms
I'm not saying they are not going to be pushed to the limit and abused, just on the surface they are what  WE have asked for.
Now some go beyond what will really help, including 13-17, that are nothing more than ways to get the CDC to say guns are a health issue or to require "smart guns" or some other silly device that is not technologically feasable.

NO where in the 23 things listed do I read AWB or mag capacity limit, not that they won't try.

Correct, but unfortunately that is something else the gun community has asked for, better enforcement of existing laws, just how far they have pushed it.

There are no fools in this forum. So let's be careful we don't assume the President is giving us what we asked for. The devil is in the details, not some descriptor sentence. The President knows that if he is to do some damage, it will have to occur through executive action and not via the lily-livered Congress. Pay attention to the fine print.

I think that is what I'm getting at.  They know that if they word it similar to what we've asked for they can slide it through without out a fight.  Do they REALLY think we're that stupid?  (I know, yes they do.)

How much of a stretch is it to think the term "gun nut" means you have a disease or mental defect that requires treatment and confiscation of your firearms?
