I had the basically the same thing happen on I-75 years ago too........ just a different state.  ;D  ;D  ;D
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Me, I did the same, guilty as hell of speeding so why lie? I got the ticket, but the officer said nothing about the beer bottle in the drink holder. Granted this was Texas so it was legal as long as you weren't seen drinking from it, but he didn't make me do stupid human tricks or anything (and yes Virginia, I was sober, it was my first after a long thirsty day of hog hunting). Still, if I had been an A-hole he could have made my life difficult. As it was, it cost me about $150 and no stress on either side, even when I informed him of the Glock in the glove box. I just kept my hands on the wheel and told him I had a CHL and there was a gun in the car. He looked at my permit and asked me to keep my hands where they were. He asked whether I'd had any luck hunting, we discussed the area where I'd found a mud hole in WMA the hogs used, and I drew him a map with a big X on the page I tore out of my type II WMA book, and it was all good. He even let me bum a dip from him. Friendly, professional and zero static. Courtesy goes a long way.

I wrote something about this somewhere else and I just want to share my thoughts about this. I don't like what the judge did here. He one is a forgiener as you can tell by his accent. And yes she was immature and didnt care about her charges. But if he wanted to teach her a leasson then he should have explained to her the reason for his decisions. He let his emotions dictate her sentence. This was some sort of drug charge. She said goodbye in her native language. And any decent lawyer would have ate that judge alive.

He is most likely from a country where judges have probably beat offenders and feels he need to bring some of that tyranical authority here to America. I understand the contempt of court charge he gave her but that was after he baited her. He got mad and I'm essence have her the finger by upping her bail. Come one anyone can tell she doesn't have the money to pay eve n a 5000 bail. And now is as tax payers have to pay for this girl to be in jail. Really.

We have judge like this where I live and he really is biased. He lets his emotions dictate charges just like this guy and I have seen him ruin kids lives. He charges them with impossible probation sentences which keep people in the circle of court and fines and charges. Come on really she is a criminal that needs to be in jail. Dumb kid yes. Disrespectful yea but nothing says she has to be a certain way in court. People like him are what is wrong with our system. You have to pay a lawyer for any sort or fair treatment. Cause he has a complex and needs to be shown authority. He could have said to the girl while you are in my court I expect this... out of you. And then if she acts a fool levy a fine but explain to her the reason. Teach her a leasson. All he did was make her more angry and not teach her anything. I think a decent lawyer in the area will pick this up for free for the publicity and beat the charge. The judges actions led to  the response he got. My thoughts.
Did we win???

This occurred in south Florida, if I am not mistaken.  The judge, most likely, is either a Cuban refugee, or child thereof.  The defendant, was angry because the judge would not appoint a public defender because she had jewelry that was 'worth a lot'.  Had she answered the judges questions coherently, she would have gotten the public defender and that would have been the end of it.   She, however, wouldn't answer the judges questions and laughed when he was informing her of the potential consequences for being disrespectful.  When it became apparent that said consequences were coming home to roost, the girl became more disrespectful of the court and the judge.

She only got a little bit of what she deserved.   Too bad, so sad.
