Idea for a future episode
« on: February 08, 2013, 09:54:39 AM »
I live in Big Bear Lake, about 12 blocks from 2N10, the trailhead where that psycho cop killer, Dorner, ditched and burned his truck.  We had a pretty restless night with the helicopters buzzing around and the two visits from police doing door to door searches.  My wife is on edge and my neighbor seems like he is in panic mode.  I'm concerned but I've taken appropriate measures to protect my family and give me advance warning if anyone comes near my home.  I also kept the flood lights on each corner of my home on all night.  In any case, I just thought others would like to know what to do if a killer is known to be in their area.

Oh, wow!   Hope everything goes well tonight.   Hope they catch this guy today.

Not near as dramatic, but had an escaped killer on the loose in our neighborhood once when I lived in Charleston.  I was following the pursuit on the scanner.   All was quiet about midnight, then we heard someone outside the bedroom.  I racked the 12 gauge and they ran away.   Not sure if it was "the" escapee, but the police then changed their search to center around our house.  They caught him at sunrise.  Never found out if he was actually the one prowling our property.  Most neighbors were clueless as to the manhunt.

Of course this fellow wasn't out to kill anybody "new", he was just trying to escape custody.

Personally, I think he is long gone out of the area.  Everything he has done so far, including posting his manifesto, has been very calculated and planned.  He stated that his goal, in addition to killing specific officers, was to make the department expend tremendous resources searching for him.  Given that, I'll bet torching his truck in the woods was a diversion and he had other transportation ready.

Concerning my appropriate measures, I told my sister and she thinks I'm paranoid.  She said the odds are very low he would come up my street.  Frankly I don't care what she or anyone else thinks.  It's attitudes like hers that makes for victims.  I've been on red alert and will stay this way until they catch him or we know he's left the area.

I don't care what anyone else thinks either. You are doing it right. Keep up the watch.

As a side note, does anyone else find it funny that the media isn't reporting that this guy is a self proclaimed left wing loon! He said point blank that Dems and media types inspired his actions. I want to hear more about this aspect.

BB,

Remember the Beltway Snipers around Washington D.C. a few years ago? Well they were sighted everywhere around MD, DC and VA before they were caught...5 miles from my house. They were spotted in their car at a truck rest area by another trucker, purely by accident. I never lost any sleep over it...but should have. You are doing the right thing even though you are not his target. You actually may be in more danger from some scared, trigger-happy cop than from Dorner. But who knows? Better safe than sorry.

OBTW, last time i visited Big Bear and Arrowhead was in the early 1960's when I lived in San Berdoo. Bet it is much changed over the years as it used to be my hunting grounds.

Los Angeles and Torrance police were involved in two shootings in Torrance early Thursday when police came across vehicles similar to the one sought by authorities in a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer suspected of shooting three other officers.

Neither incident actually involved the suspect, said Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase. The suspect, Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, was at large Thursday morning

Concerning my appropriate measures, I told my sister and she thinks I'm paranoid.

Dorner broke into a home on Club View Dr., just 8 blocks from my home.  He tied up the couple and stole their truck.  So much for paranoia.

Did your sister call and apologize?  For that big of a reality slap she should buy you 1000 rounds of your favorite flavor at current market prices.  ;D
