BATF bureaucracy... All I can do is laugh
« on: February 20, 2013, 09:44:31 PM »
So after over a year of waiting and almost forgetting about it, I received a call from Steve Young today.  He's the lever action guru gunsmith down in Texas ( http://www.stevesgunz.com/index.htm ) .  I am finally next in line and he received my new Rossi 92 from his distributor for one of his famous action jobs, among other things.  In the past, he would be able to rework the new gun and then ship it out to the customer's FFL.  However, he told me that the Feds are tightening the rules yet again and he can no longer do any modifications to a new firearm that he resells, or else he would be reclassified as a firearms manufacturer and would then fall under a whole new set of regulations.  So get this... he needs to ship my 92 to my local FFL where I do the paperwork, wait the CA required 10 days, and then pick it up.  Once I take possession, It's no longer a new firearm.  I will then immediately pack it up and re-ship it back to him to do the action job and other customizations I requested.  At this point, all I can do is laugh.

Boy, I'm glad the government is not involved in other important stuff, like healthcare.

Hi;

     As a delivery route driver, I drive a 6 wheeled truck with a big box on the back ( Think Penske/Budget/U-haul ). I need a CDL in order to drive that truck. Now a person that wants to move from state to state can get the same truck and drive it without ever doing it before in their lives and need only their regular state drivers licence.

     The Maximum I can drive in a day is 11 hrs, the mover = as long as he wants.

      I have to keep and maintain a log book, The mover = just haul ass !

     I can be pulled over by D.O.T. at anytime and many times in a day, The mover = Just haul ass.

     If I have bad tire  on my truck - I can be shut down until it gets fixed, The mover = Just haul ass.

     It does not matter if I have air brakes or the standard (pull) emergency brake I am under DOT Guidelines, The mover = just haul ass.

      Now just how stupid is that ?

  You forgot about the hazardus materials endorsment on your license along with the background check and fingerprints needed to deliver powder and primers and other such stuff.
