Contacting the Senate Judiciary Committee before they vote 2/28
« on: February 27, 2013, 12:05:02 AM »
As posted in the legislation area (http://www.downrange.tv/forum/index.php?topic=21788.msg273713#msg273713), the Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a business meeting where they plan to consider bills S.54, S.146, S.150, and S.374 .  We all understand how important it is to contact our own Representative and Senators.  Some may not realize, however, that it is entirely appropriate to contact committee members prior to important votes on moving bills to the full chamber.

Here is an extraordinarily helpful website for finding any kind of contact info you may need... in this case for the Senate Judiciary Committee:
http://www.contactingthecongress.org/cgi-bin/newcommittee.cgi?site=ctc2011&lang=&commcode=sjudiciary

You'll find listed phone, fax, and email for both majority and minority members.  While there may be a general assumption that votes will fall along party lines, every one of these committee members needs to hear that we are scoring their votes and there will be consequences if they act to infringe our 2A rights.  We may not be direct constituents, but we are all members of, and donate to, organizations that have an effect on elections throughout the country.

Please take some time to contact as many of these Senators as you can.  It may not help... but it certainly won't hurt.

S.54 - Amendment brings ammunition into the straw purchase picture.  Call me paranoid, the President does so you can too, but this suggests they are heading toward background checks for ammunition purchases.

S.374 - No text available yet!  No summary available!  Transparent?

S.146 - I am for school security and safety.  However, why is the answer always more money?  Our schools receive funding from the federal government, state government, and our property taxes - That is three ways that I send cash to the local school.  Why don't the schools use these funds in an appropriate manor to provide a safe facility, and professional teachers and administrators?  Let school employees who have jumped through the hoops to purchase and jumped through more hoops to carry carry on the job.  If we would do that we would have prepared staff at several locations, and bad guys would have no idea where or when.

I say no to all four!
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
