Police dog accidentally fires gun into Lawrence home

LAWRENCE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police say a dog searching for a gun in a snowbank accidentally pulled the trigger with its paw, firing the weapon.

No humans —or dogs — were hurt.

The episode started at around 2 a.m. Sunday when an officer on patrol heard three gunshots. When the officer went to investigate, he saw a vehicle speed away.

When the car pulled over, police saw a man leap out and bury something in the snow.

Ivan, a dog handled by the Essex County Sheriff's Department, was called to the scene to find whatever was buried in the snow. Police say he started digging furiously and fired the gun.

Three men were arrested and police determined the gun had been stolen in Manchester, N.H., in October.

"Quick...Blame it on the cat!!!"
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I once read a game and fish report where a guy poached a turkey, and threw it and his semi auto shotgun in the trunk. Apparently after a few miles it turned out that the turkey was still alive, and not happy about being in the trunk. The guy stopped and was going to pop the trunk, grab his gun and shoot the turkey again. Somewhere in the middle of executing this maneuver, the turkey hit the trigger of the shotgun. The shotgun fired through the side of the car hitting the guy in the groin. He died on the scene before emergency personnel could arrive.

I believe he won a darwin award too.

Yup, That fits the criteria to a "T"...

I wonder if the dog will be suspended "with pay" pending the outcome of the follow-up ::)
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

The dog needs to go thru a background/paw print check to see if he/she is a felon & a check of the dogs medical records to see if the dog is competent to have a firearm as it is apparent the dog has never had any type of formal firearms training. And a citation will be issued to the dog for discharging a firearm within city boundaries as well. ;D
“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.  On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron.”  H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun,  July 26, 1920.

The dog is a cop.
None of that stuff is going to happen, in fact the dog won't even get any time off.
