I must admit that I too have gone over to the dark side. I still have great affection for my 1911. But the new gen Glocks fit my hands! I have long recommended them to other shooters as I knew then to be great guns. I trained many people to use them and have the utmost confidence in them. Now I just have to make my 1911 understand that I still love it, I just need to see other guns.

I've been shooting and owning guns for 50 plus years but went on a kind of hiatus after getting married and raising my children,number one I could'nt afford them and other things became more important.When I re entered the gun world I bought a Glock 26,it was a great gun,I liked it so much I bought a big brother for it in the form of a Glock 23 .After a while my interests started to change so I sold them and persued other avenues such as my Ruger SR9C,FNP9M,FNP45 USG,ATI commander length 1911 and so forth.Skip forward to about 3 weeks ago I bought aother Glock in the form of a G36 and love it so much that it is my main carry now ( my Ruger SR9c feels neglected now).The G36 is slimmer than the others in the Glock line,pretty close in size to my SR9c.

As much as I don't really care for Glock's, I've never been able to say anything bad about them. Frankly, my only grip is that I think they are ugly as sin. That is of course just my opinion. Overall I think Glock makes great guns. I would never hesitate to pick one up, in fact my better half carries one. I just don't know that I could ever choose a Glock over my Sig.

For all the focus on dehorning 1911's, the Glock is truly a block with lots of hooks and snags.

And damn finger grooves!!!!!  G17 fits OK but the G19 I really want does not.  G26 I will probably get next will fit w/adaptor on the mag.  Oh yes, I agree, they are butt ugly!

I won my G23 in a shooting contest. It came with the 9mm conversion barrel. It's my bedside gun. Plus I take it on any overnight road trips with both barrels and 4 mags of each caliber. Double the foraging opportunities.

I was thinking of using OEM parts but there would be slop between barrel/slide.
I'm going the route yours has and just use the conversion barrel.

They had a bunch of FDE Glocks in several different calibers. They even had 45acp ammo!

A Flat Dark Earth G19 followed me home.  
Same price as the one I passed on 3-4 months ago.  Now I can stop kicking my own ass for not buying it earlier.

Off to the desert to do some function testing...I'm sure there will be no surpises.

It's $250 less than the Springfield 1911 that I would prefer.

You won't regret it. Due respect to JMB, but its the finest defensive hand gun ever built. Big enough for carry (so saith the NYPD) and small enough to conceal easily (so saith me who carries one IWB on many occasions). It also holds 15 rounds in a standard mag or 17 if you buy the +2 floorplate and finger extension (which I like if its factory). Its a great buy regardless of your preferred flavor of range gun. This will always go bang, you can shoot a palm sized group at 10 yards no worries, and you can conceal it with a decent mag capacity. What's not to love?Just put some better sights on it if you have the time and money (just like a 1911), but the factory ones will do.
