Made in the USA

'Made in the USA' Making a Comeback

A curious thing is happening among American shoppers. More people are taking a moment to flip over an item or fish for a label and ask, is it "Made in the USA?"

-----------------

The recession, and still flat recovery for many Americans, have created a painful realization. All those cheap goods made in China and elsewhere come at a price -- lost U.S. manufacturing jobs. A growing pocket of consumers, in fact, are connecting the economic dots between their shopping carts - brimming with foreign-made stuff -- and America's future.

They're calculating the trade-offs of paying a little more for locally-made goods. "The Great Recession certainly brought that home, and highlighted the fact that so many jobs have been lost," said James Cerruti, senior partner for strategy and research at consulting firm Brandlogic. "People have become aware of that."

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

That is a start.

It is also necessary to realize that the government has taxed American industry out of the country....add in the effects management with there heads where the sun don't shine and of labor organizations out of control and you have much of the rest of the problem.

I do believe there is a growing awareness of the risks of foreign made goods, particularly Chinese.   Products what contain what has been deemed poison and forbidden in American goods have shown up, been found and publicized.  Simply the fact that cheaply made products just don't hold up as well as a quality product is also being rediscovered.

 ;D ;D ;D

We need to find a way to make that a resource more easily accessed.  Some type of outline format with categories and sub-categories.

Easier to maintain and to find what you need...like the outline in a Wiki entry.

I have a huge project we're forced to build in China by our customer (GE).  We get hammered by the importation of our parts and devices to support the build.  As was told to our GM recently, the Chinese government is tired of the United States "littering our shores with cheap, American made fasteners!".

Remember when Sam Walton vowed that every product in Wally World would be made in the USA? That lasted about five minutes. :'( Now, you have to flip a coin to figure out whether a Ford or a Toyota has more parts made here. I still, and will always buy American if the quality and price are near comparable, but damn its getting hard.

It's getting very hard to know...

Toyota Camry Recognized As…’Most American Made’ Car On The Road

From Sept, 2012
If you watched any televised sports programs this weekend, it is likely that you saw a commercial for the Toyota Camry that featured the “Star Spangled Banner” and the Japanese car company’s proud declaration that the Camry was just named the “Most American-Made Car” on the road for the third year in a row:
Technically, the ad is wrong. Camry is not the “most American car for the third year in a row.” This was actually the fourth consecutive #1 for the Camry.

You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

Federal, a most American ammunition manufacturer, just had to decline a large shipment of lead that came from China.

It was contaminated...

...With children's toys.

Hi;

Lets not forget a part of the exodus of Manufacturing from America. That is Union's,  Companies have to be competitive and make profit for the stock holders. Today, Executives get millions of dollars in bonuses and compensation REGARDLESS the outcome of their tenure.  Union's and I believe in a good wage for good work, But when you   have to pay  extrodinary labor prices for someone on a assembly line or converyor system for them to sort out bad product or separate product is out of line.

With high labor costs - companies had to introduce robotics to cut manual labor (jobs) . Now we are not talking Rocket science degrees here for a man (or 2 men) to install  the hood of a car on an assembly line. in a resent (2-3 months ago) AOL news release - 20% of all College Graduates are working as Bartenders, because there is no job or no one hiring in the field of study taken.

We need another lawyer like we need another 4 years of Barry. We are short of Doctors and Nurses.. Who deserves more pay - the lawyer  or the Doctor/Nurse.   We are pumping out more teachers than positions needed or already created, how are our kids coming out of schools these days. We cant fire teachers because of tenure - stupid/incomputant teachers teaching our kids  and the heads of the teachers union were caught on tape saying that it was not about the kids - it was growing their clout with political leaders.

No wonder we don't make things like we use to in the USA...

“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.  On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron.”  H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun,  July 26, 1920.
