Is anyone here planning on getting a LC380? It combines the size of a 9mm with the power of a .380.    I don't get the appeal.

My thinking as well.
Wouldn't it make more sense to put the power of the 9MM in the package of the 380 (LCP )
rather than add the weakness of the .380 to the bulk of the LC9 ?

They tried 9X19 in the LCP package and it is too powerful, so they worked their way up until the platform worked.  Now that they have a small 9mm they are maximizing their investment and marketing to the masses.

There comes a point in every product where it isn't about what makes sense, but what generates revenue.  The LC platform is the smallest 9X19 with all its bells and whistles (loaded chamber indicator, thumb safety, etc.), so why not maximize the R&D investment and adapt to 9 kurz?

Because it is combining the worst features of both guns.
The lower power of .380 with the bulkier LC package.

Very small, very light handguns are not very pleasant to practice with.
My wife didn't like her LCP. Now I have to inherit it. Poor me.

If she had waited for the larger version, she might still be carrying it. (the mag disconnect is a no sale though)

As far as a 9X19 it is a decent handgun.  I didn't say capitalizing on the peashooter market was a good idea, but they are making money with minimal investment.  They should have left the .380 in the LCP, but people are lining up to buy it in a LC.

Remember, the size of the LCP makes all rounds bite the hand that shoots them.  Moving up in size is attractive to those who want shooting comfort.

Shooting the Keltec P3At and the Ruger LCP is not my idea of fun.  A .380 in a slightly larger frame might be appealing, as long as it will fit in the pocket.......     In about a year when guns are available again and if we still can purchase them I for one am going to give them a serious look.

Some people just can't handle a 9mm handgun that size. My Mom can't any more do to arthritis  so a .380 in at size make sense. Lower recoil and the size would make it easy for her. Working the slide is also very had for her, Ruger claims that its much easier for people with weaker hands. I can see the market for this kind of gun. Older folk and women that need a firearm now have an option.

  My wife just got one.  
     Everybody in the family loves it.  
     It is sort of the Goldilocks gun -Not to big, not too small, not too much recoil, not too little power.
     Not every one wants too lug a 1911 around.
     Not every one can hang on to a tiny LCP.  
     I almost always have an LCP in my pocket holster unless I am headed to those kill zones called public schools where I teach or the
     college campus where I am working on my Masters.  So I am familiar with both.
